This is my 5th in 12 years. The one I got before this was vertical and I did not like the loaves. This one is horizontal and I love the loaves I'm getting. First, this machine is very quiet. I can't even hear it working from another room. I do wish they'd made the beep when it's finished slightly louder, but I'm happy to work with that in return for not having to hear loud whirring all over the house as the machine kneads the bread. Putting the pan in is difficult. Put the paddles on, then hold the pan up and look at where the holes in the turning pieces inside the machine are, then kind of line up the piece on the bottom of the pan by turning the paddles. Put the pan in the machine and kind of wiggle till one side fits in. Then turn the paddle on the other side very slowly until that side fits in also. Test to be sure it's set properly with a gentle tug. After you've done it a few times, it gets easier. Still, they should come up with a better way to fit the pan into the machine. Because of the difficulty putting the pan in, I recommend putting the pan in the machine and then adding the ingredients for the bread. On my previous machines, I put the ingredients in the pan first, then put the pan in the machine to keep from making a mess in the machine. One of the things I love about this machine is that you can completely stop the program and start it again. On my previous machines, the only way to stop the program was to unplug it. On this one, you can just press 'stop' . This is great for me because I have an apple bread recipe that needs a lot of kneading and I hadn't figured out how to increase the knead cycle the first time I did it. So I just stopped the program and started it again before the first rise cycle. More kneading as the entire program started again and the apple bread came out great. I also like the dual paddles. On my banana bread (see pic), I used to have to mix the dough by hand and pour it in because the machine wasn't strong enough to mix that dough. This machine with 2 paddles handled the dough with ease. As you can see from the pic of the top of the banana bread, it looks a little funny where the 2 paddles were, but it still tastes great. I like the big window on top where you can really see what's going on in the machine and how the dough looks so you can made adjustments if needed. I've done 3 kinds of yeast breads and they all came out beautifully. I'm baking on medium and the outer crust of each loaf is wonderfully crisp while the inside is soft and fluff. I did a the banana bread, which is a soda bread, on the cake setting and it worked wonderfully. I'm just thrilled with this horizontal bread maker with 2 paddles. Definitely worth getting if you like using these machines are are used to them. If you're new to bread makers, it might be a little difficult to get up to speed with this one.

Super easy, excellent breads
First use was using the old fashioned bread recipe from the manual. I forgot to change the setting for loaf type, so it actually used the French bread timer - the loaf turned out perfectly (ate half the loaf while still hot before I remembered I wanted a picture 😆). Today I used an online recipe for whole bread bread. This time, I forgot to change the setting to 2lb loaf, so it ran the 2.5lb cycle - again, the loaf was perfect. Excellent crust for both loaves - white was light crust, whole wheat was medium darkness. Great chew, tender inside. The whole wheat did not rise near as much, stopping ~ 1" from top of pan. The white bread was well above the edge, close to 1.5". The white bread made excellent toast. I'm guessing the wheat will as well. During the final rise, I lift the ends of the dough to remove knead paddles, then shape the dough to the pan. This allowed for easy loaf removal from pan without tearing large holes. I found the loaf can still stick to the spindles, but I simply turn the spindle from the bottom of the pan a couple times, and the loaf comes right out. It's all hot, so be careful. Very happy with this machine. It makes excellent bread, seems very forgiving for small hiccups (I still measure VERY carefully, which I believe to be critical, regardless), it cleans up super fast, and it's fairly quiet. It does cause a good shake on a free standing sideboard, but stays put. No issues with movement or shake on quartz counter. I highly recommend this machine. Update: I tried using instant yeast instead of bread machine today, and found the whole wheat/all purpose flour loaf rose higher, and produced a less dense loaf, more like what you expect from major brands. Very pleased with this result (last pic)

¡Excelente máquina de pan!
La mejor panificadora que he comprado. Llevo años haciendo pan y he tenido varias. ¡Esta es la mejor! Mi pan favorito es el de sándwich. Siempre sale uniformemente horneado. He probado varias recetas y todas quedan deliciosas. Estoy muy, muy satisfecho.

Not for UK-despite what Amazon Customer Services say
Ordered through Amazon UK and knowing it was. Coming from AmazonUS, I contacted Customer Services to get them to check the item could be used in UK. They assured me they would get back to me within 48hrs of contacting the seller. I didn't hear after 48hrs so contacted customer services again and they stated they had checked and item did come with UK power! Item arrived and need I say I was incorrectly informed. This came with a two pin US voltage plug... Not compatible in UK maybe unless you use a massive down transformer which could be the similar size again so I've sent it back.. Don't take customer services word for it, do your own research. This was a birthday gift but luckily I bought ahead of the time so chance to buy a UK brand one.
