The production is top notch. The vibe is right. The band is as on point as ever. Syd's voice is as magical as it has ever been. However, I was hoping that this would eclipse Ego Death and for me [and this is for me only] it did not. The album is still a sexy solid groove that has a lot of 80's funk and quiet storm feels.1. Come Together - Solid opening track. It is mature and the name is a definite reflection of the album framework "Hive Mind". In the times that we live in, it seems like a call to action delivered by the Florence Nightingale of music (Syd).2. Roll (Burbank Funk) - Roll makes me want to do just that. The song puts you in the mind of roller skating on Saturday nights… smooth, easy, and effortless.3. Come Over - Syd's voice over the beat of the drum and the smooth 70's laden guitar rhythm is exquisite. This is a roll your windows down, turn it up loud, wind in your hair, driving song just as it is a lie on your back, gaze up at the stars with the sweetest brown sugar, and just chill song!!4. La Di Da - Makes me nod my head so hard. I'm just here to have a damn good time and maybe take your girl! Lol! The sing song rap is amazing.5. Stay the Night - On the fence about this one. I do love the lyrics and the guitar. Something about is just slightly off to me.6. Bravo - Speaks to a lot of people I have come in contact with. I’m supposed to offer kudos for being trashy?!? I think not! This track I enjoy the lyrics more than I enjoy the melody of the song. The crash in the background is too distracting. The two do not combine well for me, but I get the overall notion of the song.7. Mood - Again, lyrically superb. It’s a great song to smoke and vibe to but not something one that would go on my slow and sexy playlist. I do enjoy the overall production of the song, especially the guitar.8. Next Time/Humble Pie - Melodic. The lead in from Mood to this is a superb transition. The transition from Next Time to Humble Pie is even better. What sounds like a cacophony is a stylized mash of harmonic chords that when mixed with Syd’s voice takes you on a 5 minute and 40 second journey.9. It Gets Better (With Time) - Not much to say on this one. I just am not feeling this one. Again, I like the message, but I am not a fan of the track.10. Look What You Started - YAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!! This is my second favorite track on the album after Come Over. Funk, funk, funk!!! Did I say funk? This takes me to a blue light basement party. The beat is the captivator, the lyrics are the line at the door, and Syd is the reason why I am paying $20 to get in!!11. Wanna Be - Is growing on me. I think it will become another song that I truly enjoy over time. Overall the track is lyrically enjoyable and easy to listen to without a skip.12. Beat Goes On - Not feeling this one at all.13. Hold On - Sensual outro. Not the way I was expecting the CD to end given the way it started, but a nice way to finish (no pun intended) the CD.
