It is JUNK
Works well for a variety of things. 1. If you drink it, you feel full and don't eat as much. (DEFINITELY research how to mix this, too much is not a good thing) 2. Makes amazing paper mache paste. 3. Makes a great personal lubricant without staining sheets or clothes, but does have a sticky residue if you don't wash it off.

How to dissolve this methylcellulose powder
The product is great! Using, however, is a bit of a problem. It ALWAYS clumped. This is what worked for me to drink as a fiber supplement: - heat approximately 3oz of water in a microwave for 45 seconds (you want 160-180 degrees, not boiling) - pour into a "protein shaker" - sprinkle 1 tsp of methylcellulose powder into the hot water - shake for 20-30 seconds - add approximately 5oz of COLD water to the mixture - shake for another 20-30 seconds - let stand for 5 minutes - shake again and drink the thick, but smooth, glass of water - if desired, fill the shaker with another 8 oz of water and drink to "clean out" the remaining methylcellulose in the shaker

Mixes easily
Warm 4oz glass of water in microwave and add 1 tsp methylcellulose and stir in another 4oz water. It's essentially tasteless, without the lousy citrusy flavor of Cirucel, which I don't tolerate well. Half price. I combine this with one dose of Clearlax in the afternoon/evening. Moderation works.

Kind of hard to use for regularity, but...weight loss!
I build a tolerance to fiber, whether its in the food or psyllium supplements. So Im looking for a tendency breaker and figured let me do pure methylcellulose instead of Citrucel which seems weak. This does the job but spoon stir creates clumps. Blender and handmixer creates foam. BUT, 2 big tablespoons a quart of water and you have 32 oz of thick foam. Chug it and you're feeling full. I was already using psyllium husk for this, but the extra volume of foam is a bonus in feeling full. It keeps me from snacking too much at night, IM full, I can't fit anything else. I was using a lot, but I was eating way too much in the evenings after dinner watching TV on worknights. Or coming home late and doing the same thing.

Reduces oil absorption in oil fried foods
I bought this for helping reduce the oil that is absorbed when frying foods in oil. The first time I used it for this purpose, I wasn’t sure it did the job. I was frying some coated mushrooms. But since then I have used it in coating batters and it works. I found its use when I was searching for ways to reduce oil absorbed by fried foods

This stuff is great - here’s how to dissolve it
Bought this as a replacement for the brand named stuff that is full of sugar and orange coloring. It works really well, but there is a trick to dissolving it. It dissolves in cold water but clumps heavily. It doesn’t dissolve in hot water but if stirred will form a suspension. So, put it in a cup, add a little boiling water (1/4 full) and stir vigorously with a fork, then add cold water in a stream while stirring. This will cause it to dissolve smoothly.

No. Don't. There are better options
Not at all worth it. WILL NOT dissolve in hot water, it turns into *booger*. Also know as ruined soups and gravies. Clumps like mad to the point where I say *blender required* because my from the tap cold water required about ten minutes and whisk to finally break them up. Also , when disposing of my ruined food I put my dishes in the dishwasher, which uses hot water... and now won't drain because of the booger plugging the drain. There are other options that are better.

Essential for Vegetarian/vegan "meats"
This binder does wonders for vegan burgers, "not" dogs, vegan meatloaf etc. It is plant based and routinely used in food manufacturing. This is also the cheapest price I have been able to find. An essential ingredient in a vegetarian/vegan kitche.
