Decko OutDoor 30300 LED 300 Lumen Camping Lantern

I was looking for an LED lantern I could use for night-fishing and also use as a home backup emergency light, as far as I'm concerned this little light works great for both purposes. The small size makes it handy to store and the light output is a lot more than I expected, especially if you remove the frosted bulb shield. I'm very happy with this purchase so I'm ordering another to keep in my truck. I'm not sure what's going on with some of the low ratings pertaining to installing the batteries and re-attaching the base plate, it's a quick and easy procedure with simple instructions IMO. There're no regrets on this purchase from me, it's a solid built LED lantern that's well worth the price.

Smaller than I expected and not as bright as a propane burning lantern, but easier to use and should work for seeing around inside the tent at night.

five stars from me! i have the 300 lumen. I purchased it for lighting up the inside of my tent while camping and for lighting the cooking area and also walking to the out house at night. On low power it is very bright, plenty of light and more for all of my needs. When I first put the batteries in I was so impressed and surprised how bright it was and then I realized it was only on low so I turned it on high and WOW! This little thing is almost to bright! if your worried it wont be bright enough. don't worry its bright. Its small and compact and the base is heavy because of the 3 Dcells. Im amazed that this bright light can give so many hours of use. It seems very solid and sturdy. The best light for the money or maybe for much more. I cant see how it can be better!

I'm surprised this was rated so well by the other customers. I ordered five of these for emergency lighting in my business. We opened the first one to check it out but I didn't have any batteries. The employee who brought it into my office tried to put the bottom back on but was unsuccessful. I said maybe it needs to have the batteries installed. I got the batteries, and I still couldn't get this thing back together, even though a was aligning the arrows you are supposed to align. A third person tried, and finally it went back together, but didn't know why-she apparently was just lucky. I either got a defective unit or this is just a bad design. Am returning the remaining four and choosing a unit that is easier to deal with.

It puts out good lite, but it blinks when it is shut off might be nice if you need to find it but keeps me awake with a little flash every few seconds from one led by the switch. The only way to shut it off is to take batteries out of it. That lead to another issue with it, because it is very hard to line up two arrow when putting batteries in don't try it in the dark just won't happen.

Good light but putting the battery cover back on was a royal pain.

The media could not be loaded.  I bought this lantern for my husband to take hunting, to the cabin and camping. We own the same lantern made by Rayovac. When I say they are the same they are "identical" shape, size, and function. My husband started playing with both lanterns and the parts interchange! They MUST BE made in the same factory. The only difference is the Rayovac is green and the Decko is gray. The Decko lantern seems a little brighter but it is hard to tell. Rayovac is 240 lumens and Decko is 300 lumens. I will ask my husband to shoot a video with his iphone and load to Amazon later.Rayovac Sportsman cost $26.38 today at Amazon and the Decko Lantern is $20. 25% cheaper price. After using this lantern last week at the cabin we found the battery life on both lanterns to be about the same. My sister asked me which I would recommend and I told her Decko because of the price. If you want to pay more for the name brand buy Rayovac.This item qualified for Amazon prime when I bought it from Amazon. 2 day service. I like buying from Amazon and not the merchants selling on their site.

pound for pound, this is the best camp lantern. Lots of features, unexpected power and features of lanterns that are twice the price (but are literally identical).I got a few and give them away as "camper-warming" gifts. Everyone who uses my lantern asks how to get one.Strange fact... for less than the price of some "proper" options, you can use these as outdoor lighting for a party or walkway. using a cheap plant hanger Shepard crook, you can light a whole backyard with a few of these.

Best compact sized lantern ever. All you need for any camping, hiking, hunting, or whatever trip! Bought 1 and liked so much so I bought another :) The cost, size, brightness levels make it the best buy for lantern lighting needs.

Nice lantern, compact in size but ample lighting and supposedly good battery life. Need to use it for awhile to check out its durability in outdoor/camping application as the last unit I bought, the Rayovac lantern lost one of its light setting within a few weeks of use which I am assuming may have been a result of being bumped. Didn't give it a five star rating as I am not big into a constantly blinking light especially when tent camping, though I recognise its uses and of course can easily be covered with a piece of tape for night time use. Also would have liked an amber light when only subtle illumination required. Seems to be great otherwise and price is reasonable.

Construction quality is OK but the light is really weak. Actually it was ok the 1st time I switched it on for a couple of seconds (before leaving for camping). The second time I switched it on it was really weak. In fact, I bought (in the same order) an Energizer head lamp rated 95 lumens. The Energizer produces more light than the Decko which is supposedly rated at 300 lumens. I thought that my batteries were the cause so I bought the most expensive Duracell (Quantum) only to find that it did not improve anything. Even the random flickering (!?) kept happening with those brand new batteries. Returned it after our 3 day camping trip where hopefully we had enough head lamps.

This works great in the house so I will most definitely work great in a tent or trailer. The two brightness levels are useful as the brightest would possibly overwhelm a small space. Well made, light but feels solid and can be hung upside down and you can remove the top for even brighter lighting. The only issue I have is that the bulb is not replaceable. I wish I had known that before buying. I'm hoping it lasts long enough to have made the purchase worth it - being a LED it probably will unless it gets run over. Still, I'm thinking the lantern itself will easily outlive the bulb.
