Shikakai: Great hair strengthener
So far I think I like this. I am experimenting with this powder in combination with henna, brahmi, aritha, neem based on what I have discovered researching how to strengthen and grow hair from videos on youtube. After the initial use of the combined powders to treat my hair, I noticed significant amount of less hair-fall. That was interesting. I will continue using. Delivery was great- lightening speed. Packaging in mint condition, no issues. Appeared to be a good quality product.

Best thing that happened to me since the invention of GPS :)
I'm constantly amazed that some dried plant matter can work so well and leave my hair so soft and healthy looking. I'm not touching the products of the chemical industry ever again, I swear. I just mix shikakai, amla, and aritha powder in about 2:1:1 proportion in boiled rice water. Plus a couple drops of essential oils. That's it. My hair looks very good for at least 3-4 days, and I can stretch it further with some dry shampoo (cocoa powder for the win here, no bottled dry shampoos can compare). Coloring - henna +indigo + cassia + some amla. The results are amazing, do yourself a favor and try that.

Good
Overall, I liked the product. I feel it cleaned my scalp well. My hair shed alot less. My hair feels great. My only bad comment is that it's really hard to remove the granules. I washed my hair three times after and I still have like sandy partials. On my next use I will try steeping it and straining out the granules then using it. Im still going to use it. I like the product overall.

worth the mess
I use it instead of shampoo, Works good just messy and hard to really get in there. I will still use it to cleanse hair once a week but use shampoo once a month

No more shampoo & conditioner
Since I have been using this instead of shampoo, my fine hair goes five days without washing before it gets oily again (after a couple months of breaking in for my scalp to adjust). I mix with water to make a paste of the shikakai, massage it into my scalp, and rinse thoroughly. Then I soak the ends of my hair in diluted apple cider vinegar for a few moments, pour the rest of the diluted ACV over my head, let that sit for a minute, then rinse again. Once mostly dry, I rub a dab of jojoba oil around in my hair, especially on top, and occasionally use another dab of jojoba to tame flyaways. I haven't counted, but I get at least ten washes per box, possibly more like fifteen or twenty, since I only need enough to work into my scalp. Massaging it in and then rinsing it out gets my hair clean in the process. That is the sum total of my haircare products and how I use them, and my hair has never looked better. And it all starts with the shikakai.

Nice shampoo for no-poo lifestyle
I am Caucasian with thin/fine hair and really enjoy using this product as a "shampoo". I went from shampooing every 2 days to shampooing every 5 days! Oil is NOT necessary for this product to work (I have used shakakai on its own and it works fine!) but I find my hair to be much more shiny and voluminous when I oil it before hand!

Works well in combination with Aritha powder
I use this to wash my hair. My hair is waist length, fine, blonde, pin-straight. It's moderately oily and I wash it every 2 or 3 days without an issue. I'm allergic to normal shampoos and conditioners and tried this as an alternative. Using shikakai powder alone did not clean my hair very well. It stayed odd and greasy-looking after I rinsed and dried. However, using this combined with aritha powder seems to do the trick. Aritha powder was too harsh on its own, but combined, I get clean and healthy hair! I use about a teaspoon of each and make a runny paste. I rub the paste into my roots and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. You have to rinse thoroughly or you might notice some grains of powder falling out of your hair once it's dry. I haven't had a problem with this, though. I like to follow up with a vinegar rinse (maybe 1-2 teaspoon of vinegar to 16 oz of water) and my hair loves it. Without the vinegar, I feel my hair gets a tad dull using just the powders. I've not noticed any darkening or color changes using this method. I normally use baking soda to wash my hair. I must say, baking soda does a better job and my hair seems to prefer it. But I want to color my hair, so this is my second option to protect the dye job.
