My sciatic nerve LOVES this desk!
I was having some serious sciatic nerve issues, and, after trying several new exercises, stretches, etc., I had the idea that maybe a stand-up desk could be the solution I needed. OMG... being able to alternate sitting and standing have helped 1000%! Of course, I could have done that with any of the stand-up desks, but this one had good reviews and came in at a great price point, especially compared to the ones that use a motor to raise and lower the work surface. This desk has abundant work space for me. I have my laptop, an external wired keyboard, second monitor, and desk lamp on here, and I still have plenty of room on each side for papers, notepads, cell phone charging, and snacks. It's deep enough for front to rear that I can keep all of my cords out of the way, too.Assembly was super easy, and it's pretty sturdy. I'm about to try standing on it, but it's plenty sturdy for me to lean on when I'm standing and need to give my lower back a little rest. Use of the hand crank is very easy, and it takes me about 25 cranks to go from the seated height to standing. Once it's at the height I need, the crank also folds neatly out of the way under the edge of the desk.

Great standing desk, with easy assembly (instructions discrepancy is explained herein)
Nice standing desk, affordable, needs no electricity to work, works well so far, seems durable so far. Meets all expectations, and actually it exceeds them, overall. Here is the resolution to a concern that other reviewers mentioned: The company has improved the way you assemble the desk, so it is in fact easier to assemble than earlier versions, but they failed to reprint the instructions, so the instructions seem problematic when you try to follow them. But the simple upshot is that all of the holes that formerly required locating and drilling by the user (and self-tapping screws) now have prelocated, predrilled holes with prethreaded inserts (taking machine screws). So you can just screw it together, without drilling, and they give you enough machine screws, and you will have the self-tapping screws left over, which you can just toss into your spare hardware bin, for reuse elsewhere. The assembly is thus not that hard, although it does take a while. If you just accept that it's going to take an hour (not merely 10 minutes), then, already knowing the explanation given herein about the instructions discrepancy, you shouldn't have much frustration during assembly.

Great value for the money.....and none of the hassles i read about in other reviews
The desk arrived in a couple days - both the base and top - and it took me about 45 minutes to put all the parts and pieces together. It all fit together very well and the manual crank works great. This is not a $1000 desk..so dont expect a solid gorgeous furniture desk top.....it is a nicely finished laminated top with three pieces that came together very well and large enough for my Imac, 2nd monitor and a writing area for talking notes etc. I also read about screws being too long.....so yes, the screws that come in the base box are too long for the VIVO top...but shorter screws come with top, along with an instruction that points that out. I cant speak to those that got scratched parts or missing items....i didnt and I can't think of anything else that would keep me from being a repeat buyer.

Its practical and the size is good for me.
I am happy with my new convertible desk. I bought the black on black version It is sturdy although not solid like a pottery barn old school desk as this uses metal and costs less of course. Its spacious, and it allows me to switch between sitting and standing positions easily. The hand crank is smooth enough, decently quiet, and adjusts the height of the desk in seconds.I will forewarn you that the assembly process is not the easiest. The instructions are clear, but the desktop is heavy utilizing three particle wood pieces, and there is a point in construction that you have to flip it to be upright This was strenuous and tricky for me to do on my own but it was doable. For reference, I'm female, 38 and about 5'5". Also, the hand crank lifting mechanism has to be put together very carefully or it won't work properly. It requires precise alignment for it to i) function ii) function quietly without squeaking and iii) move up and down smoothly. I discovered that by trial and error and tightening it up.I like that I can add accessories to it. If you don't mind that it isn't electric (which costs more, breaks more easily, is heavier, and needs to be near an outlet), and don't mind that the desktop is not one solid piece, I think you will be happy with it. I managed to assemble it by myself, but it took me a couple of hours, physical might, and a lot of patience. I would recommend having someone to help you if you can.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I would recommend this desk to anyone who wants a flexible and ergonomic workspace.

Great desk once put together
This desk is very sturdy currently have 3 23" monitors and my laptop still leaving me room for key board, mouse, and note book+ still have room. Easy up and down crank. I like that I can leave it higher when sitting since I'm 5'7" and use the cubi while sitting. No more bruises! I decided to invest in this when we told going back into the office for our dept. Was optional. I suffer from back issues so, can not stand or sit for long periods of time but work on a computer for 10 hrs. A day. Have to make a living!. I did not go with the motorized option because it is just one more thing that could need replacing it is not hard at all to put up or down so for $100 less I went manual. Putting it together well I layed out all the parts to make sure I had everything got the first couple of pieces together then called downstairs to my landlord "He can fix or assemble anything " and assisted him by handing him pieces. Really can not tell you it was hard or easy because I have no patience or mechanical skills but there was a few what the x@$& but within 1/2 hr it was done. I am enjoying my new desk!
