I've not a big person and have a size 7 wide (EE) shoe. A lot of shoes for men don't even go down to this size. These fit me very well with one thick sock. I was surprised how comfortable they were right from the start. I also have a high instep and a high arch. Getting in them was easy and the support is decent. Light weight and appear to be made well. I haven't had a chance to wear them out in the snow very long but they seem to be well insulated. I like that there is a small amount of reflective material on the cloth on the shoelace eye loops. It has a nice roomy toe box, has good overall width and I will be able to put on my thickest socks (which I do to prevent blisters.) My ankles were well supported too; I won't have to worry as much about rolling my ankle. One thing I've never noticed in a shoe/sneaker/boot and thought was really cool-the back edge of the sole didn't compress like in a sneaker or even other boots. For me that meant greater stability front to back too. I felt like I was standing with my weight very centered and I felt more sure footed. For someone with weak ankles and back injuries I have to say these are great, supportive, sure footed boots! All that said, I also have to say that the quality for the money was really nice too. I didn't want to pay $100-$150 for good boots. We just moved and lots of $ is going into the house and I didn't want to take away from that, but I needed boots.
