Is this too big for a 6 year old?

Oh yes! This thing is so big you could get at least a 3 year old inside of it! I’m 5’6” and it’s big on me an covers most of my torso!

Is there a hook/strap on top of the bag to hang on shower wall?

Yes...there is an opening to carry the bag that way instead of on your shoulders... the fellow in the picture is carrying like that...to my mind, that is an opening that you could put on a hook or nail...
