Bahlsen dark chocolate hazelnut wafers are heavenly
The cookies are heavenly. They use a good quality dark chocolate. I've been sharing them with my friends

Don't pass on these
These are so good. A thick chocolate on top. Cookie is crunky and a nice hint of peppermint. No thick chunks. There is not a lot in the package is only drawback. 6# I believe.

Bad Looking Dark Chocolate
I love dark chocolate and have bought these Bahlsen wafer cookies before and they're delicious, but somewhat difficult to find and somewhat pricey. When I discovered these on Amazon in a bulk case, I thought I'd give them a try and figured I could give the extra boxes (I don't need all 12 boxes in the case) as gifts to friends and family. The case arrived in good shape and since it has been about 60 degrees outside for the whole past week, I wasn't concerned about the chocolate melting or anything like that. When I opened up the first box, I was dismayed to see the dark chocolate looked discolored or oxidized. The cookies I had in the past were topped with a smooth, dark, glossy chocolate that clearly showed the Bahlsen logo and name, like the picture on the box. The chocolate on the ones I received were rough, dull, and inconsistent in color. They looked like really really old, ancient dark chocolate. I checked the expiration date to make sure these weren't boxes that slipped through the cracks and expired for decades, but the expiration date is 11/30/25, which is 8 months away, so not expired. I opened another box and it was the same dull, rough, oxidized-looking chocolate. I took a chance and ate one cookie from the first box I opened, and it tasted fine. The wafer cookie under the dark chocolate was still crisp. I just don't know why the chocolate looks like something that came over on the Mayflower with the Pilgrims. If I don't experience gastro-intestinal distress later in the day, I will assume the cookies aren't bad and still edible. Again, the cookie tasted good like the others I've eaten in the past, so I still gave 2 stars (which I will retract if Montezuma gets his revenge on me a few hours later). I'm hoping this is just an aesthetic issue and not a food safety issue, but either way, the chocolate looks so bad I can't imagine giving these boxes as gifts to anyone I care about, and since these aren't returnable on Amazon, I'm stuck with 12 boxes of cookies with suspect-looking chocolate.*Update* So I didn't have any issues after eating the cookies, they tasted great, so it is only a cosmetic issue with the chocolate. I want to report that Bahlsen reached out to me after I posted my review and they offered to make things right, which is extremely commendable and shows a level of customer service you don't see too much anymore and I have raised my rating accordingly.

Not too minty.
Just the right amount of mint. Not overwhelming. I brought these to work and my friends loved them. I do too. I also purchased the milk chocolate and am waiting for the Bailey's. Godiva stopped making these in the USA. This is a great option for those that liked the godiva biscuits. Yummy š

Donāt buy it!! Look at how it came!
I love Balsen biscuits, for me one of the best in the world. Unfortunately they came completely melted. Also the Baileys version is kind of weird, the taste didnāt blend well. My sight is that Amazon or Balsen should put them in a double box, so I would, maybe, prevent from melting. I also bought a 10 pack regular Balsen biscuits that arrived correctly. So the double boxes seems to have worked in the other order that I did !

They are absolutely delicious!!
Delivery took a long time by Amazon standards but they were worth waiting for! If you like Bailey's Irish Cream, you will love these!

Updated review: Recipe has changed, for the worse
I discovered these a few years ago in Europe, but could not find them in the U.S. until very recently. They are one of the most delicious cookies I have ever had! [If you find the Girl Scouts' Thin Mints tasty, you should definitely check these out.] Just received my order (three individual boxes packed together in a larger box), and they were delivered in excellent condition. Expiration date of 6/30/23, which is four months away; they taste very fresh.5/24/25 update: Sadly, they have changed the recipe, resulting in a thinner cookie and much thinner layer of chocolate. And there is no longer 'chunky' in the cookie name; it's now called just 'Choco Leibniz Mint' as those delightful tiny minty nibs mixed in with the chocolate are gone and there is now just a mint flavor to the chocolate. They are still tasty, but no longer a stand-out cookie/biscuit. I expect they made the changes to deal with increasing costs of chocolate (and everything), but those delicious Bahlsen Leibniz 'chunky mint' cookies appear to be a thing of the past.
