This lock fits in one of my doors just fine. The self key feature is a plus if you already have other locks with a KW1 keyway.

I recently installed a new set of locks on my house. I like the look of this little lock as it fit the aesthetic of my new door handles. The most important thing to know is that these are rekeyable. I won't post how to here, there are very detailed instructions on how to install the lock and then how to rekey it so that you only need one key not a whole ring of them. Installation is not straightforward. There are certain things you need to make sure you are doing right or else your lock won't work. 1. On the side of the housing for the mortice latch, it tells you proper orientation of the lock so you don't install it upside down. Yes it can be installed upside down - but it won't work. 2. It can be done by one person. I installed all of mine without help, but having someone to help hold the exterior piece in place while trying to attach the inside section to it, can help a lot. 3. Maybe this should have been number 1, but make sure you line up the door latch with your placement of the receiver hole in the door frame. Somehow I lined mine up on the first door completely by accident. This is a solid material build quality. The housing is steel but there's a brass housing inside the steel box. It keeps the entire assembly centered in the drilled hole for the lock.

Installed a new door slab and needed a deadbolt as the old door didn't have one. The door had a hole already drilled for the lock so was an easy install. When using it feels like a sturdy, quality lock. I like the Kwikset because all my locks are keyed alike and is simple to do and literally only takes a minute.

The lock is fine but it's a shame that the brand name on the lock needs to be upside down so the key goes in the right way; upper part of cylinder, teeth facing down.
