great knife even if it rusts, just wash and dry and no problem.
Great product, blade stays sharp, I have one that is over 70 years old and still going strong that was my mothers. Yes, it is showing some wear but is the favorite knife in the drawer.

Comes with edge unfinished
This blade only had an initial bevel (unfinished) on it. I wanted a 17° per side edge. I had to make several hundred strokes with an 80 grit diamond plate on a fixed angle sharpening system to profile it. It took a long time to finish this knife myself, the way it should have come from the factory. This knife is somewhat like a kit, in that you have to complete it's manufacture yourself. For a tiny paring knife, ($17) this is unacceptable. If it was $2, maybe. I wish I had gone to a thrift store and bought a used one.Not recommended.

Hard review on this one but....
First thing I noticed was the blade was a bit proud of the handle on both sides. The blade sticks out of the handle approx 1/64 of an inch. Not enough to bother but...lets keep going. Second thing....the blade tip is a bit curved. A bent tip is one thing but this one is GROUND across the curve so it was a bent blade when manufactured. Third thing....flip the knife over and I see "2ND" stamped onto the blade. Fourth, the handle is rough and missing one tiny knick out of the wood. Final? I would have bought this used. The tip is an easy fix and the edge would be ground anyway. The handle is already planned to hit the trashcan. But hiding all of that in the sales listing? That's not a good seller. Won't ever use these fine folks again and won't ever recommend them. Buy at your own risk!

Excellent knife
I don’t usually write reviews, but wanted to on this product. I have owned Old Hickory knives for a long time. However, after reading a one star review below, I wanted to say that these knives may not be good for your lifestyle if you put everything in the dishwasher. The packaging on these knives clearly states to hand wash and dry them. Putting them in the dishwasher may cause them to rust. Just saying. They are excellent, long lasting knives if you take care of them.

A piece of history
I bought this knife mainly for sentimental reasons. I grew up with an Aunt who had some much-used and terribly beat up Old Hickory knives in her drawer. The instant I saw this one I realized what I was looking at. This was her knife, and probably some of you have parents or grandparents who owned an Old Hickory as well. Still, history aside, I keep this knife on my knife rack, and I use it because it does the job. I'm very careful to keep it wiped dry, and I've applied some mineral oil to the handle to help preserve it.

Glad i bought this .
I've had a set for over 40 years and like the carbon steel blades , easy to sharpen . Bought this for my daughter , seems to be the same well made design .

Great!!
The only paring knife you will ever need. These are not shiny stainless steel but they will keep an edge and sharpen to razor sharp when needed. I have the big one as well and after years of the "Pretty" stainless knives that get dull fast and are a real hassle to sharpen, this is my go to knife. I plan to get a couple more sizes and get rid of all my other knives.
