OsterCryogen-X Pet Clipper Blade, High Carbon Steel, 3F

I've had an Oster clipper for many years and this was a great addition to use on my dogs. These blades hold their sharpness for a long time.

My dog loves them as much or more than me No more snap and pull on his hand these clippers trim right through thick hair with ease !

So far, I'm very pleased with this detachable blade. Love the longer length it allows me to achieve. Tons better than the snap-ons, makes the job far easier when your dog's coat is heavy or difficult to get thru. I have not had a problem with the blade getting hot ... I tend to break up the steps of the job in quarters, rather than doing all of the trimming at once. Leaves the coat lovely... fluffy and even.

Just what I was looking for

I've used Oster blades for over 30 years and this is my first time using the 3F. The blade didn't glide like butter like some of the higher numbered blades, but it did go through my doodle's hair without too much work and left the coat at 1/2", a very manageable and good looking length. My doodle's coat is a 50:50 blend of golden retriever and poodle, very soft and medium wavy. I recommend this blade.

This is a quality blade. I bought it bc on Oster's site they recommend this for Shih-Tzu's. I'm not a professional clipper/dog groomer. I've cut my boys' and my husband's hair for nearly 20 years. This blade leaves a very short cut, really doesn't do well if there's mats. I keep my dog in pretty good condition but she did get some mats on her belly and this clipper didn't touch them. I had to switch to a very short blade and it did fine. When I used this blade on her entire body, it ended up with some really, really short places. I'm not sure how I managed that. So while I'll use this blade, probably on kids' hair- it is not the answer to my Shih-Tzu grooming. But I also don't like the look of a shaved Shih-Tzu. So for some people this might be great. Not for me.

This blade is great for mixed breed long/haired dogs. I have a Rottweiler/Poodle/Australian Shepherd mix. His fur varies throughout his body from Rottweiler-short to Australian Shepherd-thick-and-long. To get an idea of his coat he is sometimes confused with a Newfoundland mix, a black Golden Retriever, or a Wire-Haired Lab, although his hair is very soft, not wiry.I like to shave him down in the winter to keep his coat short without going to the skin since we live in a region where temperatures can go from in the 50s to below zero in the span of a couple of days. This blade gives a bit of a shaggy look on his fur, but even if the cut is uneven you can’t really tell, so if you’re a beginner this would be a good blade to use. The blade stays very cool, unlike the #10, which is nearly always too hot. I had a little trouble with the blade when I first put it on because it wasn’t moving, and therefore not cutting. This was easily solved by tightening the screws on the blade head. After that, the cut went very fast, I think it probably took a half-hour to shave him (it usually takes an hour with his full coat).
