The AirBridge is not a Bluetooth dongle. It is an RF dongle which is considered better. Getting back to your question… No, you cannot use any other RF or Bluetooth dongle. Can this be charged without the dock?

Yes, the Philips SpeechMike Premium Air can be plugged in directly via a USB port at the base of the device to charge. Please note, however, that this can only be used to charge the device. The SpeechMike docking station or a Philips AirBridge must be connected to the computer for the device to work.
