If you are used to using PrintMaster, this will be a big difference.
I have been a PrintMaster user for 15 years and then I got a new computer that would not support that old software any more. I have 8.0 version. So very old. I did a lot of research and didn't see good reviews for the 2013 PrintMaster but did for Serif. It took me a few days to get used to it and there are not very many pictures or graphics which I was used to with PrintMaster. If you do a lot of brochures, I would recommend buying. I may also buy the new version of PrintMaster just to get the graphics.

Purchased this to replace "PrintShop 23.1" the old Broderbund version
The reason is that I can't get PrintShop to install on Windows 8. It works on Windows 7, but not well, but it was never truly updated to work on Windows 7 or 8. I got a demo of PrintShop 3.5 the new version All I can say is the company that took it over just ruined it.PagePlus is a powerful program BUT it is not nearly as intuitive or easy to work with as PrintShop. Maybe after I have been using it for a couple of years, I will get use to it.

so the simple tutorials and user guides are awesome. They are easily accessed and understandable overall
After repeatedly reading reviews, complaints, pros and cons, I decided to spring for PagePlus X7. My plan for its use is for professional-looking brochures, newsletters and business cards for non-profit equine welfare organizations and rescues. This is my first try at desktop publishing, so the simple tutorials and user guides are awesome. They are easily accessed and understandable overall. Some functions (like mesh warp) are referenced peripherally only, so using this required time, trial, and error. Serif also offers a "community" forum, so you can search there to see if your problem or question has been addressed already. Without going into detail here, I had to contact Serif due to a program crash. I emailed Serif, exchanged emails, sent a copy of my project, and was asked to call to speak to a technician. Ultimately, the technician connected remotely (safely and securely) to my computer, went thru some diagnostics, and discovered the problem. This all resolved in less than a half hour. The techs were super understanding and patient and absolutely gave me the impression they were there to help me. Oh, I should mention that if you buy thru Amazon, you should keep a record of your key code sticker, as the technicians couldn't find me as easily as if I bought directly from Serif. But still it all went super smoothingly. Very very happy with this purchase!

Careful What Features You Think You're Getting
I have Serif PagePlus 3, but decided to upgrade because of the features I thought it had. Mainly I was looking for something to create professional-looking .mobi files with photos embedded as well as being able to take PDFs and reformat it into something I could actually read on my Kindle (again, the .mobi feature). Neither worked. The programs works fine otherwise, but not a significant enough of an improvement over what I already owned.

Serif vs Publisher
A fan of the older Publisher versions, I didn't want to purchase the latest "simplified" version. Shopped around, checked reviews, got Serif. Not impressed with the tools organization and hidden windows. I feel I'm trying too hard to find tools instead of being creative.

BUY IT NOW!
I was hesitant to purchase this product because of some of the worries that it would have a lot of issues--I read about the #8 version and kept to the disc since the download has a limited return date. This product is incredible and I am so glad that I bought it! I have been struggling with MS Publisher and its limits and was severely frustrated with how to make training manuals but not be held hostage to an expensive program by someone like Adobe. I will highly recommend this as a disk install and for the money believe that it is more than worth it, due to the fact that the alternatives are very weak. I will say that some of the rudimentary functions have their own uniqueness, but once you spend a little time with the software program it will seem very intuitive. I only have been using it for a few days, and am almost finished with my first 20 page document and its extremely versatile with where and how to place text, graphics, forms, etc. I don't think after this I could live without it! Jump in! I did and I wholeheartedly recommend it!

US Serif Software PagePlus X7 wins over MS publisher for me
Easier to use then MS Publisher and so far no stalls. Those who use MS Publisher know what I'm talking about. I used Publisher for over 10 plus years. Publisher is a memory hog. When it came to update my computer and I needed a publishing program I did some comparison. US Serif Software won hands down. US Serif is easy to use right out of the box, just a small learning curve. Lots of options for any desk top publishing or creative projects you may have. For business bulletins, writing letters, making an e-book, or PDF files, making newsletters.... You are only limited by your imagination. It is also very easy to put your photo's into any project with just a few clicks (you even get some editing tools for photo's). And you can not beat the price. I highly recommend this product.

Not for simple souls!
This DTP program does everything except the washing-up. There is great praise for it in the media - but I find it a bit overwhelming, not nearly as easy to navigate as MS Publisher (I am still using my beloved Publisher 2003 with straight-forward conventional menus; I loathe the 2010 version with the detestable, messy ribbon.) So PagePlus has had very little use, and won't until I can get my head round it.

Page Plus X7
It took me longer to learn than expected.I have only used it for a book, 540 pages long, not yet for posters and all the amazing range of stuff possible with it so can't comment on that. I got some things wrong early on which repercussed later, but they sorted them quickly. I like it the more i use it.There are some quirks which you just have to learn, but much less hassle than Quark and other big competitors, I'm told. They upgrade it regularly in response to feedback. Were I re-commencing, I would still buy it, but I would set my initial templates up as per their instructions and manuals instead of what I did!

Not as expected
I bought this as it stated it had a 'logo studio'. It does not, in any shape or form. However, as a basic desktop publisher it's OK. I haven't tried it to see if it is compatible with e-book publishing yet. Overall I'm not impressed especially as I bought it at full price.

Simply the best.
I've been looking for a good Desktop Publishing program for quite some time. I did consider Microsoft Publisher but was put off by the price. I also had a good read of the reviews for this product and realised that its just as powerful (if not more so) than the Microsoft version but available for a fraction of the price. I ordered this from Amazon and got it for £44.99 which is £48.73 cheaper than Publisher 2013 and a whopping £85 cheaper than the older Publisher 2010 which is still available from Amazon. I do however have two problems with Serif's product though. Firstly it would have been nice if there were a proper user manual included instead of a 14 page quick start guide although this guide will have you producing great publications in no time at all. A PDF version of the manual is available to download but I think a hard copy would have been better. The second problem is a lot more serious and it concerns the Serif's after sales team. Once you register they just wont leave you alone and are always on the phone wanting you to either upgrade or try other products. My advice would be if you register this great product than use a fake phone number if you dont want hassled non-stop by calls from these guys. Definitely a 5 star product though.
