Is the "extension 5 conductor cable" meant to be buried directly in the ground? Or should it be run through conduit? If yes, what kind of conduit?

Welcome to TOPENS! It is better to use conduit to protect the “extension 5 conductor cable”. Ordinary PVC conduit will be fine.
