This is my first Dell and I'm not impressed
This is my first Dell and I constantly get the following error message "Service Tag in DSOE Does Not Match the Current System". Here's what Dell has to say about it."Download the Asset.com file using the below link. Boot to DOS, by press F8 at the Dell Logo, and selecting safe mode with networking. Once in DOS type the following Command. ASSET /S xxxxx (where xxxxx is the customers service tag)ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/utility/asset.comIf this does not work, try this.Turn on the power to the system and press the <F2> key to enter the BIOS. Move down to Service Tag and press Enter, if there is no service tag listed there, try the following steps.Turn on the power to the system and press the <F2> key to enter the BIOS. Use the arrow keys to enter the Correct service tag. When the service tag has been entered correctly, press the <Enter> key. Press the <Enter> key again to save. Press the <Esc> key. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Save/Exit button, then press the <Enter> key.Hope this helps."It does not help. When I link to the FTP site it tells me "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running..." When I go to the BIOS my correct Service Tag number is already entered.Additionally the Quotes (") key does not work properly.

Dell laptop
I would have given this unit a higher rating, but I have had quite a few issues with setting it up the way I like. I was used to Windows Vista and this came with the Windows 7 operating system. It took me a while to get all of the desktop clear of the useless junk on it. Also the Java that was installed on my system had errors in it. I had to call my computer service company to help me get things to where they should have been from the get go. I did not use Dell service, because I wanted someone with a clear speaking voice to help me. I use PlumChoice and they are techs from this country and they speak clearly and are very knowledgeable. Once they helped me with the laptop, it then became more user friendly.

Ordered this model17R- 2368 .received wrong laptop
The seller (Sprinters) sent the wrong laptop , model#17R 5737. I did not inspect the laptop untill my dell switch cover arrived and could not find the switch button to change the cover. Then I inspected the bottom and then I saw that it was the wrong model. I contacted the seller and he apologized for the mistake , and he was going to look for the model I wanted .I also contacted Dell with the service tag and was informed that this laptop was sold in February, so it is used. The seller denied that . he said he was the first buyer. He now offered me a PARTIAL refund! I paid $829.00 for a new computer.I will keep the computer now.Beware buyers, make sure you get what you pay for.I am very dissapointed with Sprinters.

dell execs embrace technology bonus structure
first, i'm embarrassed i bought a dell. they used to make good machines. i used to recommend them for corp purchase. then the execs embraced the bonus structure so cherished by the technology sector.-- hdmi port work? nix to that (nix to working on 2 out of my 3 dell laptops - did i say embarrassed?)-- the wireless .... well, something happened to it ...doesn't work any more. i'll call dell. no wait, that's torture. the broadcom wifi card (Broadcom bcm943142hm) is defective on a whole bunch of these machines (but dell will have u do a lot of things -- you have nothing but time to spare, right?)-- i went to their online support, asking if they have sufficient trouble reports with Broadcom bcm943142hm to do anything about it - the responder provided instructions on how to identify the wifi card (which i had identified not once, but twice, in my trouble ticket -- but who reads those things?? )-- i tried running the diagnostics - dell website says "oops, error, no can do"some one else will try to upsell me. but it's ok. because, according to the powerpoint the dell execs received, it's all sunny in heaven. the only thing wrong is outsourcing. yeah, that's it. outsourcing.buy 3 machines and send two back

I needed power AND Windows 7
My office operating environment is Windows - with Vista and Windows 7 - and although I use an iPad and an iPhone in field I was not ready to jump to Macs or move to Windows 8 as I have too much $ invested Windows software. This laptop was just the ticket. It's a Dell so I know it will be reliable. I've had several HP laptops, and while I loved all their features and great graphics, their motherboards have all crapped out. This core i5 17.3 laptop with 8GB of memory, 1TB of data *and* Windows 7, is everything I was looking for. I am very happy.

Not happy
This is the worst computer I have ever purchased! I was disappointed for the first day I received it and did not get any happier over the last at months of trying to use it.This computer failed about two months ago, I had an IT person look at it and he said the parts were not all Dell parts. There were different brands of memory sticks in it and one was completely bad. It works slightly better since the stick was replaced, but I have no doubt this seller is selling junk and NEW machines. I wish I could get a full refund. I should not have agreed to work out my disappointment with the purchase early on. I should have known to buy from Dell directly. DO NOT buy from this selller!

Dell Laptop
Really like the laptop but it is a bit heavy, the good thing about it though it has a fan on the side instead of underneath and it does not seem to get real hot on my lap.

review of Dell lap top
It is very difficult to find a 17" laptop that uses windows 7. We tried to adjust to a windows 8 laptop, but we're old and have certain health issues which made operating it difficult. So we were delighted to be able to find this product online. We returned the other laptop which we had purchased locally at a store that had removed ALL windows 7 computers from its inventory a month earlier.
