Q: Does it actually hold that slightly more solid shape?.... or does it just drape over?... Thanks.

It holds the shape of the BBQ. The cover is made out of polyester, very durable but it is not firm. This is my third cover for the BBQ and I like it more over the others. If I have to buy a new cover, I will buy this one again for sure

Q: what is the height of the cover?

There is a 6" space from the floor to the bottom of the cover. The top of the cover is 46" from the floor, so my 4 burner grill is well covered.

Q: will this cover fit the royal gourmet with smoker?

I don’t know - I just measured our BBQ, don’t think it has a smoker but the cover fit —-very roomy for my large Weber.

Q: If my grill is 55 inches, is there enough room for on and off or should I order up to the 58 inch cover?

My grill is 55 inch and this cover is plenty big. It could actually fit a larger grill. The 58 inch cover would be way too big.
