I did not purchase this product for use in food. I make homemade skincare products and food grade is a plus in the terms of avoiding contamination. I did put some in a lip balm recipe which imparted a sweetness, so I can attest to the fact that it has that quality but I have not tasted it on it's own nor mixed with water (yet).Aloe juice powder is oil soluble as well as water soluble. This powder can be mixed straight into a body butter if you are careful about how you mix it - a little bit of warming in a carrier oil helps the process along (and makes essentially a macerated aloe oil).Some notes:- Aloe is a humuclant - it readily pulls moisture from the air in the same way that oat does. This is great for your skin but bad if the powder is exposed to any moisture during storage as it will cause clumping at best and microbial growth at worst.- This powder is very fine and becomes airborne easily. Many foodstuffs are VERY BAD for your lungs which work on a very, very fine balance of certain gasses and a very small amount of fluids to lubricate. Be VERY careful about how you open the bag and portion out this powder regardless of your application.- Because of the above mentioned water-pulling properties and airborne abilities, this powder will create spots of gummy sticky coating on the locking mechanism of the bag. This eventually nullifies it's usefulness and it is very easy to get a puff of aloe when trying to remove the air for resealing.TL;DR: Transfer to an airtight storage container for best use, longest shelf life, and personal safety.I am not removing a star for any of this because the product is good and everyone packages their aloe powder in bags. It would be nice if someone would put it in an airtight jar though. *Nudge nudge*

Nice aloe vera powder as described. I researched on Amazon.com and most aloe powders were made with both the inner gel and outer aloe leaf, which makes the powder greenish and bitter taste. This product is white and tastes a little sour (like yogurt). It dissolved in water without any problem. It's the best price Aloe powder I could find from the website that is made with Aloe inner gel only.

This Aloe Vera Gel powder is super clean - made strictly from the gel. I am on my second package. It helped me rebuilt my gut bacteria and keeps my whole digestive system running again.

So glad I found this...I have been using aloe vera powder for quite a while but never realized that the brown powder was made from the leaf and not the gel. I used to drink the gel and wanted to try the powder and am so glad that I now have the right powder for my health.

Only product on the market that is just the inner gel and not the green outside. Dissolved find in my water for my hair. I love it and would buy again. Good price for this one!

Used it for a detox and worked well.
