This is a fantastic product both in flavor and price. If you love pepper, you'll love this and need to buy some asap. I unscrewed the lid and partially peeled back the safety cover to get a whiff. It was very fragrant. I called to my husband to come smell its fragrance and he said there was no need because he could smell it from down the hall. Yes, it's THAT fragrant and it tastes as good as it smells. The packaging is exactly as it looks. Because it so much pepper, I'm thinking of transferring it to mason jars to keep it as fresh as possible. That may be overkill but it'll look great on the shelf. Anyway, add some to your cart and you won't be disappointed in its flavor or cost.

Use this coarse black pepper to make my own seasoned black pepper which I use a LOT. Seems to taste fine and retain flavor for a long time in the plastic container, so am pleased with these aspects. BUT the price keeps rising so might consider alternatives!!

12/13/2018 I always thought that buying 5 lbs of coarse black pepper would be alot to much, but yet I was forever running out of coarse black pepper. Then having to pay $5+ - $10 for small meager amounts in the rip off grocery stores or powdered black stuff??? in the me-so-cheap dollar stores. I do NOT like fine ground pepper and I choose to use pepper versus salt most of the time (diabetic). For me, coarse black pepper mimics iodized salt in some way but that salt is terrible for diabetics (watch how your body parts swell, especially your ankles) If I use salt it's always sea salt, like night and day compared to iodized. Coarse Black Pepper bumps them both out of the majority of my diet. Well I finally took the $30 Amazon leap and am I, ever so glad that I did. The pepper has a great, strong, sort of lemony, super peppery smell and excellent taste (wonderful smell). I now have full pepper shakers everywhere at hand and the 5 pounds??? An unbelievably large amount/container, far more than I ever imagined, super duper Mr. Happy Happy pleased customer. If you've even thought about buying a life time amount of coarse black pepper so you'll never ever run out again (joking) this is the one to buy. Don't wait a year or more to purchase like I did, just do it right now, you'll NOT be unhappy after it arrives nor will you be overwhelmed, I guarantee. Pleased and happy pepper lover. Bon Appetit

Great product at a great price. Use this in my restaurant. My distributor (who's name sounds like a nick name for a major US city) wanted $107. for their product. My secondary distributor wanted $50. Margins are so thin in restaurant any more who can pay 2 to 4 times the price. I will be buying this again and again.

Great product. I'm from Texas (if that matters) and have used this pepper in my bbq rubs for years. It's great, not too strong, and gives the meat the pepper flavor every piece of bbq should have. Never had any issue with the container breaking. Definitely recommend.

I bought this enormous thing after spending $3.50 for a few ounces of pepper at the supermarket. I thought to myself there's got to be a cheaper alternative. So this is it. Pepper tastes just like the stuff I bought for $3.50. Only thing is I keep thinking that this pepper will last me for the rest of my life, which is a bit depressing. So this pepper purchase will save you money but may cause an existential crisis.

We love our pepper, so much in fact that we buy 5 varieties of pepper table, coarse, chef, variety mix peppercorns and white pepper. This pepper is a great price and the grind is pleasing to me for cooking but it wasn't nearly as aromatic as I expected when I first opened it, so in my opinion it's a bit old but I would buy again for the purpose of cooking but if looking for a pepper that you want for table use I would suggest buying peppercorns and a grinder so much more aromatic and fragrant, the freshness is unbeatable. I would, however, encourage buying this if you're looking solely for a good cooking pepper, it does nicely.

I've often heard it said to grind your own peppercorns fresh at the table, but upon receiving this tightly sealed container of ground black pepper I could immediately smell the freshness. This large container of black pepper smells, tastes and looks better than any of the other brands in small containers I have ever purchased. I use it in the kitchen and also in the garden to keep the squirrels away from my plantings. I'm glad I found this fresh tasting and aromatic black pepper.
