OK it is what it is. What it is is Plastic. I was assuming that this was aluminum or better yet stainless steel since its for a boat. But the as really should state that this is a square piece of plastic.Yes, it does serve it's purpose of complying with the regulations. And it does look like the picture...

All is well.

Cleaned the mounting surface thoroughly with alcohol. Placard falls off any time the boat sits in the sun. Other than that it's a quality sign. Just don't trust the adhesive strips it comes with. Going to try and scrape the strips off and use some epoxy.
