South Bend Wire Crawfish Trap - Square-Shaped, Durable Corrosion Resistant Cage

My five year old son of course asked Santa for a crawfish trap. Why you ask? I is a hillbilly and I be raising him right. My hot city wife thinks I am an idiot, but I told her this is a quality trap. Impressed I was when delivered. The trap is true to form and built well. Easy access to the trap through the door.All around great trap. Looking forward to using this soon. Certainly will update with photos.

Looking from the front face(entrance), and outside dimensions of the trap, 8 1/2" wide, 12 1/4" long, 6 1/2" high.... These dimensions I listed are close to what you will receive, since the TRUE rectangle box dimensions "very by at least 1/16" from side to side, top to bottom, and front to back. The measurements I listed are the MINIMUM measured dimensions on the trap I received... The actual entrance opening is approx.. 1 3/4" by 1 3/4"... For $10.96 plus tax. isn't a bad price depending on what your looking for..... Seems sturdy enough for a crawfish trap that will sit at the bottom of a water body... If your looking for a piggish haul in one day, consider a MUCH larger trap, or this same tap(In multiple quantity) Dry weight measured at 1lb. 8oz. "I personally gauge the internal holding capacity at 1 Gallon", but that is only a personal estimate....

The first two I ordered were pretty good traps, trap door had metal hinges and a hefty rubber band with a hook to hold it shut, rubber bad eventually dry rots being wet then dry, to be expected, and they were only 11 dollars, and they work good, liked them well enough to order 2 more, just got the other two this morning, and while they will still work good, I’m a little displeased about the fact that not only did the prices jump from $11 apiece to $16 apiece within 2 weeks, they are being cheaper on the make, zip ties for hinges on the trap doors, and a smaller shorter rubber band with a smaller flimsier hook, as I say yes it’s all things I can easily work with and I’m sure the traps will work just as well, but c’mon, more expensive with cheaper components? Disappointing especially for an American made product

Got here fast durability ok instead of 1 rubber band hook I added 2 more rubber band hooks on the sides to close the trap door better great product

Its well made and perfect for getting small shrimp and crayfish. Everything is really well made EXCEPT the latch that they put on this to keep it closed is a solid METAL clip BUT held on and closed with a RUBBER BAND.....YES, a RUBBER BAND like you have in school or desk. Enlarge the picture and you will see. I can't believe that nobody else has mentioned this!!! I wonder how long that will hold up. They made a nice trap and ALL they had to do was put a metal spring on it and it would be perfect. I was so disappointed they used a "rubber band" it just seems completely ridiculous that someone would even think to do this when building a fish/crab trap. I hope someone from the company reads this and makes the changes. Any critter (turtle, coon, etc.) will open this trap right up. It take absolutely NO EFFORT to open this with the lid closed. The first coon or turtle that comes along is going to open this right up. They really should have thought this out "just a little" better. I will spend some money to fix it myself rather than deal with sending it back. Should not have to do this when buying something new!

Well made traps should last a long time, wish it had a carry handle and a rope tie off but I just made them with zip ties. Can't wait to put them to use when the ice melts.
