Beautiful Workmanship
I haven't been writing reviews lately, but make an exception for this one. I received a perfect exemplar of this knife (except for one small spot of glue between the blade and the guard). The brass fittings are faired perfectly to the handle and blade. The buffalo horn is gently curved and provides a great grip of the handle. If you don't know buffalo horn, it polishes to a lustrous black. In this knife it's where it's been smoothed to join the brass end cap and the brass guard. The blade is somewhat delicate, thin and a slicer. Think meat, apples, tomatoes. I wouldn't use it for EDC. It's not well suited for chopping or beating around with. The sheath is also a work of art. It's almost overbuilt. It makes a statement like what's inside is a Real Knife.Hats off to the person who crafted this one.

great knife
i was given one of these knifes as a gift last year. it was razor sharp out of the box. i gutted a buck my grandson gave me with this knife in less than 15 minutes. i have since ordered my grandson one and myself 2 more. compact, great as to wear on the side and sharp as can be. for the price a 5 star rating! This is all i carry now and we hunting every weekend labor day thru january.

poor quality control
the knife arrived promptly from dedwood knives. i have no problem with them,as they had no way to check the knife without breaking the seal on the tin it comes. this would,no doubt, seriously p. o. someone buying cllector puposes only. in any event, the packaging, tin, knife, and sheath arrived in good nib condition i planned on using the knife in the field, so i removed it for inspection. i have say that i own uwards of 30 case fixed blade knives, knife combos, and knife/hatchet combos of varying vintages plus folders, and consider myself a "case guy". i have waiting to buy one of these pheasant knives as it seemed extravagant and kind of a cadillac knife to buy to use. as you can probably surmise from the 2 star rating, l was disappointed. the blade was not particularly sharp (case blades are generally razor sharp out of the box). i wasn't overly impressed with the sheath(made in mexico, i believe), but that was no deal breaker. the buffalo handle looked nice and felt good in the hand. the blade was spotless and the pheasant motifwas clear and well done . all that being said, the brasguard was loose. not to the point where it was flopping around (yet), bu i could grasp it and move it back and forth about 1/16 inch. this is the first time i have had a problem with case quality control, so i'm returning this one and trying again. i'll most likely update.
