Very well priced well built adapter and a must for micro four thirds shooters.
I am a professional photographer/videographer and needed a speedbooster for my professional work for use with my Panasonic micro four thirds cameras. This is my review of the budget friendly Commlite EF to MFT speedbooster. If you don't want to read the entire review my ultimate conclusion is price vs performance this is speedbooster I recommend.Build Quality: It is an all metal construction which is great. The adapter fits snugly to all of the lenses I have attached to it. I have read in other reviews that the connection of the adapter to the camera itself can be a bit loose or can shift slightly however in my testing there is zero shifting or wiggle when connecting to my Panasonic cameras.Photo Usage: It has the contacts for electronic communication so you get all the lens exif data, autofocus control and electronic aperture control. I attached a Canon Nifty Fifty 50mm f/1.8 lens and using this adapter the aputure goes all the way to F/1.3! Normally the 50mm lens attached to a micro four thirds body give you a field of view of 100m. With this adapter instead of 100mm it actually increases your field of view to 71mm. I was very happy with the results I got with this adapter. Low light situations are no longer a concern for me as this adapter provides that extra stop of light. Autofocus for photos works very well with numerous lenses I tested including the Canon 50mm f/1.8, Canon 70-200 F/4 IS and Sigma 17-15mm f/2.8. Yes the Sigma 17-50mm APSC lens works great with no vignetting.Video Usage: So most cameras shoot 4k shoot it in a cropped mode. The G7 for example is 2.3x crop. With this adapter and the increased field of view you get close to a Super35 equivalent. If you shoot in 1080p your field of view is actually WIDER than Super35. If you use this on a GH5, Black Magic 4k or similar camera you actually get close to full frame field of view.Autofocus: For video if you are using just standard push to focus (tap the screen) the autofocus with this lens is actually quite good and in my testing almost as fast as native Panasonic lenses I own. For photo work I usually use single point autofocus and with this adapter it works great. In video, if you use continuous autofocus it is slower and can hunt (as with ALL speed boosters even the $600+ ones). Personally I do not use continuous autofocus as I like to have a greater control of focus when shooting video as most experienced videographers do. My recommendation is to stick to push to focus or fully manual focus which works great with this adapter.Image quality: Compared to a passive adapter the image you get with this adapter can be a bit softer straight out of the camera IF you are shooting at very low aputure. This is the case with all speedboosters including the much more expensive ones. I simply closed down the aperture a stop or two and got great results. This can also be easily addressed in seconds with some sharpening in post be it photo or video. With the Sigma 18-35mm lens starting at roughly 25mm I actually saw no softness with the adapter so perhaps the soft image only happens at very wide angles.Final Notes: I am very happy with this adapter. It solves all my misgivings regarding the crop factor and low light capability of micro four thirds cameras. The adapter has a USB port for firmware updates to increase compatibility with more lenses. The pricing is fantastic. I recently used this adapter on paid shoot and my client was very happy with the product I provided them and in the end THAT is what matters most.

Does not top the Metabones, but has unique character
This adapter from Commlite does what you'd expect: reduce the effective focal length and brighten the image. Build materials feel solid and the adapter itself has a good weight to it. The tripod collar is also very snuggly attached so no worries using it as the main mouting point. The only drawback is that the optics are not quite up to the same standards as the metabones. Within 1 stop of being wide open there is noticeable softness especially in the corners of the footage. It was bothersome enough for me that I ended up getting the Metabones, and now having the two side by side there is a significant difference in overall clarity at brighter apertures. Another issue I found between the two is that the amount of focus shifting while zooming in or out (or lack of parfocality) was more pronounced on the Commlite adapter. There are known fixes for this with the Viltrox EF-M2 and Metabones adapters by adjusting the position of the optic in the speedbooster relative to the lens, but I could not figure out a simple way to rotate the optic with the Commlite adapter to test if this would improve the aforementioned lack of parfocality. Needless to say with the Metabones the amount of focus shift is much less pronounced and I actually didn't need to make any adjustments from the stock setting.Overall I would say the Commlite does get the basic job done, and if you like a soft, dreamier image for portrait or narrative work, this will probably suit you just fine. It certainly provides character. But if you're like me and looking for optical clairty and do more landscape or Astro work; or if you shoot a good portion of footage wide open I would recommend passing on the Commlite and just going with the good old gold standard Metabones adapter.

Great build quality! Great Image quality!
The media could not be loaded. I wasn't sure what to expect but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. I use a Lumix G7 and up until this point, I've only used native Micro Four Thirds lenses with it.The only lens I used so far with this speedbooster was the Canon EF 55-200 4.5-5.6. Although it's not my favorite lens, everything worked just as it should.Autofocus worked great.EXIF info was all there.Apature was controlled normally although it displayed the lowest number to be 3.2 when it should have said 4.5. Does the speedbooster know that it's making the lens faster or was the camera confused? Either way, the image quality is very good and the lens did seem faster than 4.5.Using the Commlite AEF-MFT didn't feel like using an adaptor. Which brings me to build quality. It's pretty much all metal and feels very well made. The lens felt secure to the body. All that is great but the real question is: How is the image quality? I'm not an expert but in my opinion, I think its virtually unaffected from the lens itself.Excellent value and finally an affordable option for M4/3 users who want to adapt Canon EF glass. My next lens: Sigma 18-35 F1.8

Excellent speedbooster!
This speed booster is one solid little guy! I'm using it on my Panasonic Lumix G9 with Canon EF lenses and so far it seems to work quite well. The autofocus likes to hunt around a fair amount, but I think overall it's pretty decent. I tend to stay in manual mode (manual focus as well as manual mode) for my video work and I prefer that. For still photography, the autofocus is ok. Not as fast as my native camera, but I'm quite impressed with the optics so far. It's nice to have a bit more of an aperture boost for low-light situations.I like the fit between lens and camera, there's no wiggle room and it fits snugly (without grating or getting stuck).I've never used a Metabones speed booster before so I can't compare, but for the price, this is exactly what I was looking for.

No single firmware update since release in Jan 2018. Good hardware otherwise.
Great price for comparable product to much more expensive adapter. Well made and sharp, sligh softness at corners, which is perfectly normal. On the down side, it doesn't work with Sigma Art 24-70, which is a dealbreaker for me as its my main lens.I use it coupled with Z-cam E2Would like to see firmware upgrades to add more lenses to their database.

Well built, works, but almost totally defeats autofocus. Seeks forever, even on good lenses
EF 300mm f/4.0 L autofocus seeks forever.EF 80-200mm f/2.8 L seeks a lot, but works with a tripod if you don't need to pan -- kind of limiting.Shorter lenses seem better. YMMV.
