How can I understand whether I've found wood or metal? Thanks!

Unfortunately this sensor does not distinguish between metal or wood studs. It is designed to find any change in density behind the wall so a wood stud and a metal stud will show up identically.

does it detect studs behind drywall with texture??

It will detect studs 1.6" deep. So, as long as the texture including drywall is no deeper than 1.6 inches, it will detect them.

Can this be used in laminate wall?

Yes. It scans pretty well. However the problem is that it doesn’t alert you when it finds the stud you just follow the light. But it deep scans.
