This book is a difficult read, capturing a history that should never be forgotten. The characters are relatable, bringing the story of devastation, human suffering and sacrifice to life. It’s a truly captivating novel.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. First novel I have read by Kelly Rimmer. Couldn’t put it down. Shed a few tears. Sad but inspiring.I intend to read more of Kelly Rimmer’s work. First class story teller.

I could not put this book down - it is a beautiful portrayal of family, love and how family life is not perfect. It is a complicated and made up of broken pieces of all of our history that makes a mosaic: Not perfect and held together by love.

The story of deep love,suffering & how humans rise above it all & find a purpose & inner strength to survive is amazing. Sadly events in our world today are no better . We can see daily similar suffering on our television news. Life is precious our world needs to thrive & survive. Let's hope it does. A wonderful book. Thank you.

Couldn't put this down. My favourite era, I nearly always pick novels set in and around the second world war. A lot have a similar plot and I have usually guessed the end. This plot kept me trying to work it out for ages. If you like a story set in this era, you won't be disappointed.

Beautifully written story of wartime Poland. We can never fully appreciate what people had to endure back then but for novelists who craft this information into readable stories. have the hankies ready, you’ll need them.
