High quality paper; High quality information
I have had a copy of Perry's in PDF format for years, but this is the first time that I bought it in physical format.Good points:> The binding for this >3" thick book is very high quality. It is flexible to accommodate viewing any page of the book without breaking the binding.> Printed text is crisp and images are of high quality.> The book contains excellent general reference material for any Chemical Engineer.Undesireable points:> It is heavy. But this is to be expected of a 3" thick book.

Must have for senior year
I originally bought this book because I was tired of my profs constantly referencing it but never requiring it for my courses. As such, having a hard-copy in my possession that I can drag along with me to my unit operations labs has been an invaluable time saver. As I grow more accustomed to using it, the more I realize how useful it is, whether writing UO reports or studying for the FE.

Good reference
Great reference book, I've been using for a few classes in ChE. Goes right next to my other bible, the CRC Handbook.I guess I was only surprised at how much of a monster this book is, can't exactly carry it to class. It's like 7lbs and 4 inches thick.

Chemical Engineer's Bible
This book contains everything plus more I have learned during my undergraduate career. This is the biggest book I have ever owned and probably the only book I needed for my school years. In this book you will find everything from controls processes to thermodynamics. If you need to look up anything related to chemical engineering quickly turn to the index and 90% of the time you will be able to find it. The explanation of theories and equations aren't as in depth as a textbook which are dedicated to that specific topics. Get this book to supplement other books it is definitely worth the price!

Adequate and much improved from the 6th edition
Perry's has improved since the 6th edition of the mid-80's. The eighth edition does what it is supposed to do: provide a broad coverage of our sprawling profession. I like it that it provides comparison tables for equipment allowing an engineer to identify which unit operation works best for a given material or operating conditions. Also, the superior graphics have returned. There has been some re-shuffling of sections and the number of pages have grown substantially to cover such new topics as security and inherently safe design in Process Safety and solids handling. These topics were ignored in previous editions. The economics section has been expunged from the eighth; this is sad since so many of my peers have forgotten the importance of this section to our profession. This version of Perry's has returned to my side shell. The 6th serves as a stop in my basement bookshelf. The 4th remains on the main shelf. If this review was helpful, please add your vote.

This is a great reference for any chemical engineer
This is a great reference for any chemical engineer. I originally purchased this for the PE exam as an additional reference, but find good use at work. I believe the material is also available electronically, but I find the hard copy handy for my use.

Must-have reference for ChemEs
What other ChemE reference book is there? Use this on a regular basis at work and was a great resource when taking the PE exam. Get your company or school to pay for it!
