Q: What exactly makes these "high capacity"? Isn't 800 mAh standard?

Duracell and Energizer alkaline AAA batteries are 1150 and 1200 mAh respectively, so claiming 850 mAh is high capacity is deceptive.

Q: Have anyone measured the AAA High-Capacity ones? 800 mah is not high capacity so I wonder if Amazon's description is in error.

I ran a batch of four brand new Amazon Basics High-Capacity AAA batteries through four passes of Refresh/Analyze on a MAHA MH-C9000 charger with a 400ma charge / 200ma discharge rate. All cells exceeded the 800 mahr rating on the cells but one was below the advertised 850 mahr on the first cycle. All improved with additional cycles as has been reported by others. The final numbers were 893 mahr, 863 mahr, 852 mahr and 867 mahr.Normal capacity AAA low discharge nimh's are rated at 750 mahr. The 800 mahr rating is considered high capacity for a AAA cell. The highest capacity low discharge nimh AAA cell I can find is rated at 950 mahr but they cost a lot more than these cells. These Amazon Basics are good value for the money.

Q: Can these be recharged using a standard "Energizer" NiMH battery charger?

I have had no problems with either the Duracell or Energizer battery chargers. As long as your charger is NiMH compatible you will not have any problems. Your charger should have a label which tells you what battery types it is compatible with.
