Works as designed
An exact replacement for the idler pulley that had broken due to age (Original was over 15 years old). Installation is straight forward and easy with a couple of basic tools any handyman should own. The pulley is NOT intended to carry the weight of the garage door, as one reviewer implied. The pulley IS designed to guide the cable that is part of the drive chain that moves the trolley on the garage door opener. The weight of the garage door is solely carried by the springs and the door track.

Good replacement part, but wanted a different solution
I bought this to replace the identical broken one on my brand new garage door opener. While the piece itself is fine, I wanted a longer term solution because judging on the reviews these just weren’t made to last for their intended purpose. My 5 star rating is based on the fact that this part is the actual replacement part. There is nothing wrong with it, it was just not built to last. The manufacturer should have made this a metal part to begin with. I purchased a different pulley made of different material that would hold up longer (2.5" Lifetime Pulley Nylon Sheave with .25 Inch ID Stainless Steel Bushing). I ended up using the other one and will keep this part in case that one breaks. I did have to purchase a 5/16” bolt, washer and nut to hold the pulley in place as the center diameter was smaller but so far so good. Just wanted to help some of you out who are having the same issues as me!

3rd pulley, I found that my installation was incorrect.
I have two garage doors, both using the same openers. One opener is still running on the original plastic pulley, the other one just had its 3rd pulley installed. I found that the pulley failure is my fault. When I installed the openers, I had to add an addtional kit for use on 10' tall doors instead of the standard 8' door. When I inserted the 2 foot rail extender, I failed to bend up the physical stop on the one unit, but I did bend it up on the other unit. The stop prevents the trolley from going too far and hitting the plastic pulley, which when it hits in the winter, the trolley breaks my pulleys. If your rail does not have the prong bent up towards 12:00 (the prong is located about 4 inches from the pulley on the top of the rail) you can bend it out with a flat screwdriver. If you find that yours is lying flat with the rail surface, this may be why your pulley has broken. The other thing I changed, was I increased the angle of the arm that connects the trolley to the door. When the garage door was in the closed position, the angle of the connecting arm was straight up and down which allowed the trolley to move too close to the pulley. I removed the two bolts that secure the two halves of the connecting arm together, increased the length of the connecting arm by about 4 inches, bolted it back together and reprogrammed my up and down stops at the power unit. Everything is working very well now, and the trolley does not even come close to the pulley any longer.

good product
I ordered this LIFTMASTER Garage Door Openers 144C56 Chain Cable Idler Pulley, Black after mine broke and I was unable to open and close my garage door. I wass looking for a replacement idler pulley for your LiftMaster garage door opener, and this 144C56 Chain Cable Idler Pulley might be the perfect fit. Made by LiftMaster, this pulley is designed to work with their Classic series garage door openers. The idler pulley is a needed component in the operation of your garage door opener. It helps maintain the tension of the chain or belt that lifts and lowers the garage door which mine was not doing at the moment. This particular pulley is made of durable plastic, which should provide long-lasting performance. Installing the pulley is a relatively simple process, but it's always a good idea to consult your garage door opener's user manual for specific instructions. You'll also want to make sure you have the proper tools on hand, such as a wrench and socket set. Overall, this LiftMaster 144C56 Chain Cable Idler Pulley is a high-quality replacement part that should help keep your garage door opener running smoothly. If you're experiencing issues with your current idler pulley, or if you simply want to replace it as part of regular maintenance, this pulley is definitely worth considering, but I suggest to order the metal one because the first one i ordered broke while it was installed. The second one worked better because I knew what I was doing...lol.

Poor quality
Made from very brittle plastic. I bought one of these about a year ago and even with very little use in the last year it broke. I then bought another one hoping for a cheap fix and it broke immediately.

Previous one had chipped and caused the chain to fall. My son and husband were able to replace the wheel and get the garage door operating again. $17.00 for 1 small plastic wheel seems pricey. But it was way cheaper then trying to order from the company in the states, as postage was like $50. So spending $17 was great and able to fix ourselves. Not having a repair company which would have been costly.

Order came within 2 days, installation was easy, exact same part that was originally installed 15+ years ago. Do wish they made metal ones, but if the first one lasted 15+ years I’m sure this one will too
