Galloway's short stories
Already a long time fan of Ms Galloway, I was still astonished at the range of her writing techniques, her 'voice' clearly identifiable in each. I much enjoy her rendering of her local dialect, adding as it does both colour and authenticity to the pieces in question. 'Blood' the first story in the collection, with its insight into the sort of anxieties lurking in the female mind, I found particularly moving. Here, as throughout the collection, she gains valuable verisimilitude by her highly attuned capture of the everyday.

Brilliant
Janice Galloway came to my attention via her wonderful auti-biography "This isn't about me". This book is a varied collection of short stories which tend to make you think quite a lot. However I think she harbours a dark side in herself somewhere if judged by the content of this book. That isn't a criticism, just a personal observation.Well worth reading.

Beautifully written stories
By the brilliance of her writing she took me into the rooms, the streets and the minds of the characters in her stories. Each word was perfectly chosen to hum in the mind and evoke atmosphere.

Sheer Genius
As always, Galloway's unique prose and razor-sharp observations hold a mirror up to the world, making you see it at a skewed, yet honest, angle.
