PETZLCroll, Chest Ascender

I bought this to make a knee ascender and it works great

I have used this croll several times already. I have absolutely no complaints. Petzl makes great products anyway and I feel confident trusting my life with this ascender. It's smooth on the climbs, grabs quickly and doesn't slip. I have used this in Rusty's Cave and Cemetery pit in Fox mountain, and Case cave in Cloudland Canyon, as well as several practice climbs at various heights. I would recommend this product to anyone.

This is for 8-11mm rope. It’s easy to use and setup on a chest and waist harness with locking carabiners. It’s smooth and grips my 8mm rope VERY well. It’s good to note that a chest ascender should be used in conjunction with another ascender (hand or foot). One little thing I’d like added is a bit bigger thumb release lever, but it does it’s job really well.

The Petzl Croll Ascender is a perfect outfit for rise in rope. It works closely with the Petzl Ascension Ascender. It is also very useful with a rope to hang on a pulley system used to stretch a slackline. Strong, compact and secure. I recommend!

It's easy to use with one hand. I bought it to couple with the Torse, but I find that I can't get the rig well enough attached to me that when I ascend a rope it just easily slides up by itself. Maybe I just need more ascending practice. It's a great rope grab, but a bit bulky to carry around for such purposes when Canyoneering. I prefer the Ropeman II, tibloc, or MicroTraxion.

Nothing to dislike, it’s a Petzl! It’s the Croll!, It’s the one everyone else copied.

I use this device for self belay rock climbing on 8mm static rope. Light weight, easy to use, feels very secure.

Using this at knee level to replace a full size hand ascender that was gouging my leg and needlessly reducing the length and thus the available stretch from the HAAS type tending bungee. Lucky for me that I encountered someone else who was using one of these for a knee ascender, so I avoided the mistake of buying a Basic for this purpose, since my climbing lines are 1/2", which the Basic can't accommodate. Great for ascending and descending with the use of a hand jammer and foot loop .

Läuft sehr zuverlässig und leicht am Seil mit. Auf den ersten 2 Metern fehlt das Seil Gewicht und man muß die Klemme bei den ersten 1 2 Zügen von Hand nachziehen, aber das ist bei Geräten dieser Art normal. Öffnet leicht, verriegelt sicher und ist angenehm klein.
