Review: Save the DAY. - I bought this for our new Road bikes. Not really sure if this thing will even pump enough air to achieve at least 80 PSI as advertised of 130 PSI. Material and construction is very good. Solid pump action and finish is very good. I am not sure about the top plastic cover cap that covers the hose. The Plastic cap body connector looks and feel flimsy. Care needs to taken when opening that piece for sure or it will snap off the holder eventually, time will tell. In any case, it is just an air pump, it better to have one than non at all. Three weeks ago on our camping trip, 35 mile bike ride from Tahoe City to Old town Truckee. Got a flat front tire on the way back from hitting a sharp rock on the road. Pinch 2 holes on the tube. Replace the tube and started pumping. Pump action is not to bad, it just get harder as the PSI get up there. Able to get close to 80 PSI. Good enough to get home. All I got to say, the pump save the day. Without this pump with me, I will either walking back or waiting on the side of the road for hours. We forgot the CO2 cartridges one the camp site. One thing to check time to time on the hose Presta/Schrader Valve hole, there is a small O ring inside. Check the O ring and if loose, press it down with a non sharp object like a toothpick from time to time. The O ring tends to creep out. Without the O ring, you will get air leaks while pumping. I contacted the seller (Gear2U) to see if I can get replacement O rings just in case, awesome customer service. Will definitely buy from them again. Also doing full maintenance on the other 3 mountain bikes I have. Use this pump to mount new tires on bikes no problem pumping them up to 60 PSI with Schrader Valve. I recommend this portable air pump. Review: Unreliable - This pump is okay while it works. I've only used it on Presta valves and this was my one and only pump for a year. The length is exactly 8.125" and will fit in larger saddle bags. The rubber cap on the valve end is terrible. It is simply capped on with weak friction and comes off very easily. The pump head is the screw-on type, which I don't like. You can lose air while trying to unscrew it from the valve and, worse, it can unscrew the valve head from the innertube. After buying a floor pump, I hadn't used this for over a year. It either sat unused or was carried in a saddle bag or jersey pocket during rides. Now it doesn't work at all. It fails to form a secure connection with the valve and sometimes it'll let the air out of the tube.

Great pump but not if you have small tires and straight valves
The pump is a quality product, but as is always true, one size does not fit all. I'm sure this pump is perfect for regular size bicycles and larger tires. It might even be ok for smaller tires like on mobility scooters, but only if the tire has an angled valve. On my 12 inch scooter tires I could not get the hidden hose attachment to fit between the straight valve and the rim of the tire, no matter how hard I tried...it just won't fit in that small space because of the combination Shrader and Presta attachment. The only answer for me is to get angled valve extenders or inner tubes that have angled valves. There is no question that this is a great pump. With the tube out of the tire it attaches easily and the pumping action is very smooth and provides a great deal of air with each push. I've had several pumps and this is by far the best made of all of them, but again, there's no such thing as one size fits all. I will keep it and buy the extenders, but I wanted others who have smaller wheels like on mobility scooters to be aware that just because there's a hose doesn't mean ti will work on your tires.

Not a good thing when you're riding and the pump impedes your ...
The pump seems okay and I've only had to use it once. The problem is that it doesn't lock and it can come open. Not a good thing when you're riding and the pump impedes your pedal. Eventually, the velcro will loosen and gravity allows one end of the pump to drop. A couple of times it has dropped while I was riding. I contacted tech support and they suggested to put a piece of tape over the joint. That's putting a band aid over a design flaw. "The other suggestion would be to place a piece of tape over the joint and install the pump into the clip with the piece of tape facing the frame that way it can't be seen. You could also wrap an elastic band around the two sides of the joint to hold it together. That's about all we can think of for now, let us know if you come up with another idea." Don't buy it! Eventually, it will open when you're riding.

Terrific!
[Follow-up - having had the pump for more than a year, and used it occasionally, I would say my original impression was more than satisfied. I would even add that the telescoping pneumatically-active handle provides more pressure, per pump, than I would ever expect in such a small unit. This thing works incredibly well, and is crafted to match!] This is my initial impression - I just received the pump, and have done only a small test. However, the design and quality are so much better than any other compact/portable pumps I've seen that I have to register my enthusiasm. I'll follow-up, however, if my actual experience with it does not live up to this first impression. The pump feels quite sturdy and closely toleranced. According to my postal scale, it weighs 170 grams (6 oz) - a bit less than a CO2 inflator plus a spare cartridge. I tried it on a tire I already have inflated to 65 lbs, and had no difficulty adding some more pressure, nor connecting and disconnecting the tire stem. Most of all, I love the design of the connector hose. They're right about the perils of a connector that's solidly embedded in the pump handle - too much strain on the tube stem. The built-in retractable host is terrific! On top of that, the way it converts between Presta and Schraeder is equally impressive - altogether, an outstanding emergency pump!

good travel pump
Being an all season cyclist, flats are a common occurrence. An emergency pump is always a good idea. The hidden hose is genius, because rigid connectors frequently cause the stem to eventually bend or pull off from the tube. This pump has no PSI gauge, but this pump was designed with portability in mind. It's extremely minimal, which is why it's a great emergency pump. It'll fit both presta and schrader stems and is easy to pump -- even at high PSI. This is the kind of pump I'd want to take with me on a lazy day or if I'm out with friends, where if one of us gets a flat, we can find where the flat is by pumping the tube with air, patching it, then putting enough air in to continue riding. Gas station air compressors and floor pumps with PSI gauges can top it off the rest of the way later. While this is pump is small and easily fits in a pocket or purse, I've found it's still too big for most saddle/seat bags. To confirm, when completely closed, this pump measures out to between 8 1/8" and 8 3/16".

worst pump known to man
worst pump i ever owned it does not fill the tire even with two people holding all the angles to minimize leakage. Hose angle is critical (not to leak) but it does continually Very BAD I hadn't had a flat for a year then with this pump did the walk of shame home after carrying it for a year Total junk!! Just to put some meaning behind this I raced pro for 10 years 40 year vet rider an I am a retired auto mechanic and shop owner. bad pump! long 10 mile walk! Its in the garbage now.

Pumped-Up on The Pump Me Up! Bike Pump
Amended from 5 to 4 stars 31-AUG-2015 -- the downgrade is due to the rubber parts. The dust cap WAS held in place by a rubber tether. The rubber degraded and I lost the dust cap. Similarly, a rubber "band" was a secondary means to holding the pump in its frame mount. That rubber also deteriorated. I have used the pump in the field after a flat tire. It works! Original review: As an emergency bike pump the price and quality of build are great. The flexible hose stays stowed and covered by a dust cap until needed. Using the pump on a Presta or Schrader valve is easy. It will quickly get enough air into a tube to get you on your way. The pumping action feels smooth. If you want high pressure like you get from a floor pump, expect to pump a lot -- it is not a floor pump -- but you won't break any valves if you do so. The flexible hose really works; I won't use a pump without a hose now. I bounced my tire under low pressure to help seat the tube, WITH THE PUMP CONNECTED -- yes, it is that flexible. Buy one, you'll like it.
