Can the dumbbell holder part be taken off?

You have to install the dumbbell holder yourself. It works just fine if you don't put it on.

It is not and if you are tall, it will be way-way too short! I'm 5'8" and the barre is ~ 4" lower than my hips. :/ it's super nice and I wish it was adjustable!

what is the depth of the legs on the bottom - I need to know how much space it takes?

The final assembled size is approximately 37 inches tall, 38 inches wide, 34 inches deep. When folded, it is 34 inches deep, 38 inches wide and 5 inches tall with weight rack (3 inches tall without weight rack). The wooden barre is 38 inches wide, has a diameter of 1.75 inches, and the top of the barre is 37 inches off the ground.
