So I bought the Lifeproof case for a trip to Oahu, Hawaii. I am, in fact, still on the island as I write this. I spent the day snorkeling in Hanauma Bay (which is spectacular) and out my phone in the case in the Lifeproof bright orange life jacket so that I could take photos. About fifteen minutes into my swim, the clip wrist strap broke (beware if purchasing the life jacket: get a better wrist strap) and the phone was nowhere in sight. I was resigned to my fate and decided to carry on with my swim and just deal with the loss of my phone; I was with friends, if I needed a phone I'd just borrow theirs. Later in the evening I check my email back at the place I'm staying and I find an email from a friend declaring that a Hanauma Bay lifeguard found my phone and responded to a text from them! What does this tell you? My phone, in Lifeproof case and lifejacket, floated around in the waters of Hanauma Bay for about three hours. When it was finally found, it worked well enough for me to be reunited with it. Not a single leak. Totally safe. Extremely awesome case and THRILLED by the integrity of Hawaiian life guards! My phone was found because it floated on the surface and was bright orange. Would totally recommend it. BUT REMEMBER. BUY A STURDIER STRAP. AND MAYBE KEEP A HAND ON THE ACTUAL PHONE INSTEAD OF LETTING IT FLOAT AROUND LIKE THIS DUMMY DID. Review: I highly recommend this LifeJacket - This case is not as hard to get off and on as some said. I have small hands and am able to remove it in a few seconds. The string on the small lanyard came off the second time I used it. I replace it with the one on the longer lanyard. I really don't see myself using the longer lanyard. All my friends asked me if it floats when they see it. We live on a lake and boat every weekend with our friends. I tell them that yes, it floats and they want to toss it into the lake. The phone works fine with the case on. I can use all the features except I can't charge it. The size makes it easy to hold on to while taking photos and I take a lot of photos on the lake. I would recommend this for anyone who is on a boat. The pictures are amazing, and I felt safe with this on it. I also had it while I was at a lake. It does exactly what it is supposed to - float. My one gripe is the strap for your wrist - it didn't make it to the ocean. My phone bounced from my hand with the strap on, and the little string that connects the strap to the phone snapped off of the plastic part that secured it. That being said, I could have used one of the two others from the neck strap to replace it. Not necessary though.
