Easy to use

I purchased two of these timers in March 2010. Two and a half years later and I still use both all of the time. I've bought a couple of other timers since then for some flashy feature or bigger numbers or whatever and I always go back to the CDN timers.Pros:- Large numbers that are easy to see from across the room.- Alarm that is loud enough to hear over the stove exhaust fan from the next room but is not overly obnoxious.- Count up and count down capabilities. I probably use the count up feature as much as the count down. For example, if I'm cooking something on the stovetop, I might want an idea of how long I've had it on there but not have some predetermined amount of time that I want to track. It also makes the timer useful for a variety of other usages (exercise, for example) where you want to time something.- Has a magnet for attaching to metal surfaces plus a little kickstand for sitting it up on a flat surface plus an eyelet for hanging it up. It's surprising how convenient this flexibility is.- Great battery life. Two and a half years later of nearly daily use and I still have the original batteries in both of them. Don't worry about no on-off switch.- Durable. I'm a clumsy guy so I've dropped these a lot and the haven't been damaged at all. I also used one at the gym for a few months and kept it in my gym bag and it survived that.My only complaint is that it only goes up to 100 minutes (technically 99 minutes, 59 seconds). There are roasts and things like that that take hours. That's a fairly minor complaint since I rarely need to time anything longer than 100 minutes and my stove has a timer that does hours if I do.

Large numbers, simple operation, and loud enough to be practical but not too irritating.Great in the kitchen, and would not like to be without at least two.Update May, 2016These are my favorite timers for the kitchen, and many other areas where the up or down count is 99.99 or less. I first began using one in 2014 and have since purchased three more. Except of the occasional battery, which seems to last long enough not to remember when it was last changed, they have performed well, with but one exception. To wit.The most recent purchase is angle sensitive; looking a bit downward on the timer shows 8888, obscuring the actual reading. Since they often sit on the kitchen counter, this is frustrating. I don't know if this is poor quality control or not, but until I received my April 18 order, I had no complaints. Now I need to place the newer one where the viewing angle is closer to perpendicular to the display.Incidentally, now that I have 4, the volume and the pitch of the alert tone varies considerably, but not unreasonably.

Mine just failed after 5 years of use, which seems fair as I used it a bunch and it certainly got dropped dozens of times. When it failed, it had not been dropped. It just started randomly going off one day. I used it predominantly to time "turns" with shared toys and such between my two kids. Easy to reset and has a nice feature that after the countdown it starts a timer automatically. This is helpful if 1) you were out of the room when the alarm went off and are cooking as it gives you an idea about how much time has elapsed AND 2) it solves the "his time is up and he kept playing so I need extra time" problem -- you can see exactly how long the turn was. Sets and resets easily. Can be used as a timer.Has a good magnet, a folding piece to prop on the table, and fold out hole for hanging on a nail -- all very helpful. Plus easy to read.

Likes:Big, bold digits.It starts counting up after counting down to 0 so if you do go over you know by now much.Dislikes:It’s always on - no on/off switch, no auto shut off. We’ll see about battery life.The alarm isn’t very loud.Update: Even though the alarm isn’t as loud as my other timer it has a higher pitch. I had no trouble hearing it in another room with the TV playing.

This seems to be a very nice timer. It seems to be much better than the Presto timer I had before. The switches for the buttons seem very solid. The Presto worked OK for a while but after about a year the buttons quit working so I will have to use this one for a while before I know for sure that it will last longer. I disassembled the Presto timer and cleaned the switch contacts with alcohol then the buttons worked for about 4 uses and quit again. The switches were just contact switches, the kind that always seem to fail. The buttons seem more solid on this CDN timer but time will tell how long they last. The large display on this CDN timer makes it easy to read from across the room. The alarm is loud enough for most uses but cannot be made any louder for very noisy environments. The Presto had about the same volume.Update 08-18-2015:After a bit more than a year this timer is still working great. The buttons all continue to function as they should. No problems at all with function. I recommend this timer for a simple timer that just works for the long term.

I love these timers (I use three to time my cooking all the time). They’re simple to use easy to see across the room.

Es exactamente igual como aparece en la web. Números grandes, se oye desde bastante lejos y muy fácil de manejar. Además el imán dorsal se adhiere perfectamente . Pero un pequeño detalle a tener en cuenta, el plástico protector de la pantalla, no es transparente, lleva números impresos y yo por poco lo devuelvo, porque pensaba que esos números eran de la propia pantalla y claro no conseguía que funcionara correctamente.

The back has a magnet, a stand or a hanger for convenience to use where you want. Alarm sounds for 60 seconds with a high enough volume to hear in an adjoining room.
