I learned new things like how the word of God got transmitted. Good book to gain a better understanding of the Qur'aan.

Overall a great book dealing with the subject at advanced level. On the subject matter of Sciences of the Quran, I do not see any other book written in English language that is as well researched and expansive in the topics covered. However in some topics such as the Seven Ahruf, more examples would be desirable to deliver a more complete understanding. While primarily written from the perspective of Sunni scholarship, it does not cover all the view points of traditional four Sunni Islamic schools of thought. Also it does not present the tradition perspectives of traditional Shia (Twelvers, and Zaydi ) school of thoughts. Being that Quran is a book that is revered by all schools of thought, I would suggest to the author to write a new edition of this book that covers other schools of thoughts as well. The paper is unusually thick and glossy, and binding is not as tight as it should be.
