End Of The Line

Good reading but misses out on a lot of facts
It is a nice book with many interesting incidents wrapped together that makes interesting reading and the writer has done a good job. But, he has missed out on a number of aspects such as the 1950 revolution that overthrew the autocratic Rana Regime was spearheaded by Dr.K.I.Singh, from the erstwhile princely state of western Nepal who later on became the Prime Minister of Nepal. This is a very important omission because the Shah Kings and the abode of power 'Narayanhity Royal Palace' had been reduced to a puppet in the hands of the flamboyant Rana Prime Ministers who assumed the title of 'General' from child-birth. When Dr.Singh led the revolution, he overthrew the Rana regime and the interlocutor between the Narayanhity Royal Palace and Dr.Singh when power was being transferred from the Ranas was 'Ganesh Man Singh' who later became a national stature leader. Missing out on Dr.Singh is like in the words of Late Laxmi Prasad Devkota (Nepal's biggest poet and Minister in Dr.K.I.Singh's Government), "History of Nepal without due mention of Dr.K.I.Singh is incomplete".Secondly, the book should have traced the roles of the various Royal Palace Secretaries and ADCs' : some of which were highly disliked by the general Nepalese. The Nepal under Harvard educated monarch King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah was a fast growing country that had tried to declear itself . 'ZONE OF PEACE' which over a 100 countries had accorded the status, except India which believed that Nepal's security concerns were guaranteed by India.
