## Description

Review: Awesome. Absolutely awesome! This is a fly trap that works. After a little over 3-weeks the first trap looks like a morbid science experiment. Each day dozens of flies get in the cannister and die on top of the water. Next day, same thing as the flies from day before sink to the bottom. Repeat this daily for about 22-days and each day's layer of dead flies have turned the bottom of cannister into stacked thick layers of flies. On some days when the activity seems to have slowed, I put the water-hose on slow trickle and fill the cannister back up to the crease line through the slot in the blue top of cannister and it seems to reactivate fly interest. Some days when I check, there are flies (all sizes) walking around on the top of cannister, flies swimming in the goo inside the cannister, and flies flying around the pole holding the cannister. I received two cannisters and now hanging the second one in another location. I had wanted to see how the first one worked and I'm satisfied. Don't ask why there are so many flies and such a wide variety of types. Nothing has changed in my big backyard but I'm not sure what's going on next door at neighbors. There are no dogs for an easy poop explanation and no smell. Why all the flies all of a sudden? I hope the neighbors aren't burying something over there (I never see them). For now - it's the fly trap to get for mysterious sudden fly infestations. Great.
Review: They work amazingly well. Within days the first one trapped hundreds of flies....BUT, I went to empty it and refill and OMG!!!! The odor is absolutely horrid. I thought I was going to lose my lunch. I am not sure if it's the smell of the bait or the smell of thousands of rotting and purified flies. Afterwards I couldn't get rid of the smell. Undoubtedly, just touching it (I did NOT get any on me) the smell stuck to my skin. I've used soap multiple times, eventually resorted to using vinegar rubbed in well, then Dawn soap, followed by a hand soap. There's still a fait whiff but at least I'm not going to puke. Beware. Place for from where people are and use gloves and for pity's sake do NOT touch or get any on you.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Which species of flies are attracted to the bait?**
A: Our traps attract all common flies, including: house flies, blow flies, flesh flies, stable flies, phorid flies, drain flies, face flies, deer flies, cluster flies and tachinid flies.

**Q: How do you reuse the trap once it is full?**
A: First, push down the lid and wait for any live flies inside the trap to drown. Then unscrew the lid and pour the contents into a plastic bag, tie it up, place that in another bag, tie that up, then place in the outdoor trash.

**Q: What is the range of the trap and how long does it last?**
A: Our bait attract flies from over 30 feet away. We advise replacing the bait after 3 month or once the trap becomes full, which ever is sooner. If the water level drops via evaporation, you can top it up with fresh water as many times as needed.

**Q: My dog ate the bait. Will it be okay?**
A: We use all natural ingredients which are not harmful (egg, fish, bran, yeast), so your dog will be fine.

**Q: There are maggots growing inside the trap. What should I do?**
A: While it looks gross, this will actually make the trap even more attractive to flies as it will smell even stronger. So you can keep using the trap until it is full, even if maggots start to grow inside.

If you have chickens, a fly trap like this isn't optional. We used disposable bags before, but they've gotten too costly. This is one of those things where it's SO GROSS, forget the environment, forget the cost, you just want to trash it. But hey.. you handle them when you trash them, and the cost is prohibitive. The contrast is such that, well, I guess I'll have to save the earth, too.. unless pouring this liquid into our compost is somehow worse. Stupid, complicated Earth.. So here we are. We started early with our trap (before Spring was official) and it took weeks before we started seeing magic. But lo and behold.. Every bit as good as the disposables, and it does smell better than those did, at least on this first use. By a wide margin, actually. Same stink, just less of it. It doesn't leak, and seems to be of good quality re: construction/materials. You can see from my image that it kills enough flies to provide you opportunity to organize a guessing game with prizes and all. So yeah, no qualms about performance. I'll be clearing it out soon and will update then. If I get just two uses out of it, it'll have paid for itself. Beyond that, I'll be in fiscally responsible adult-town. They may even make me mayor. Wow, Pyts, you sure do love the environment! Yes. Yep. I do. I can afford to. Update: Did the refill. It's gross, and I hate my life, but I can't quit until my existence nets a positive benefit for the world or some semblance of meaning beyond irony. Yeah.. It's an existential crisis kinda job.. but it's fast, and easy, and the trap is back up and nabbing flies just like before! Why do people these days worship metal products? Metal rusts. A thousand years from now an archeologist will dig up my fly traps and postulate on my savage ways. But flies will be extinct by then, and for better or worse, they owe it all to me. *cough* and this flytrap.
