As claimed, I just felt yesterday that in diesel engine exhaust this mask was effective 80% and for solid particle yes it is about 60% effective. As no instrument is available to guess the size of the particle, the fly ash type of very fine dust like particles of sub micron is to be established.I had washed once this type from inside out under jet of pressure appears to have worked fine.There is electrostatic charge created between the hairy material of the mask, and so near the moustache and nasal hair gives itching tickling feeling. The unique design of the flexible clip on the mask to fit contour of the nose profile perfect sealing tailor-made to suit individual the moist exhalation troubling vision and also seal all around stopping entry into nose or mouth. Of late due to construction sites as its fall out of development all over, this mask has been of great relief for me. For the last 5 years I have been declared a COPD patient and feel it is a must, Washable mask material would be better if available. Unfortunately I saw the traffic constables have started Cloth Masks meant for Surgeons and are unaware of varieties of pollution masks, by low advertisements in media. The cities must give analysis of pollutants, and relevant mask types for that is required to be linked to solve this increasing menace. This can be done by technical teams of MASK MANUFACTURERS AND DEALERS only in helping general public better. 14th December 2017

I've always felt 3M as the most Indian of international brands.. everything they make here may have a slightly premium price +5-10% over local brands but they are a million times better. These masks literally protect me during my 30 km daily commute to and from office in Bangalore..filters everything.. I've read some folks say it fogs up their glasses.. it's just a matter of wearing it just 1.5 cm above your nostrils and adjusting your nose clip.. it's so good i use it for myself and my son everyday..each mask should last 2 weeks before it gets a bit loose/smelly or the nose clip breaks or the elastic straps snap.

The masks were smelling of rubber. I did not like the quality of the masks.

Decently functioning anti pollution mask. I am not sure how really effective it was in minimizing the smoke and other pollutants I inhaled while riding my scooter in Chennai traffic. But I can't tell you that I stopped coughing after I started using this mask. The fit on the face is pretty decent although it has a faint metallic smell to it when it is new. Like any mask it will take some time getting used to breathing with the mask on but once I got accustomed to it, it was no big deal.

Very good and effective

The quality may be good. But the user friendliness is really bad, so because of that it is just sitting at home. The straps can only go over your head, and not on the side (over the ears), so it messes up everything. I tried changing the direction, and wearing it over the ears, but the straps are too big, and the structure doesnt cover the nose appropriately. In the picture it looks opposite of what i have... Mine is not wearable at all! I can just hold it across my nose and mouth when i am in the bus. May be i was given a defective product.
