Autopsy of America: The Death of a Nation

Devastating and Gorgeous
I have a fascination with lost civilizations, including our own. Autopsy of America: The Death of a Nation, is well-named and even better thought out. I initially thought that I would only be looking at the macabre photos of the abandoned, dead and dying 'urbanscapes', however, I have started to read the prose which is remarkably explanatory. Quite a lot of time and travel has been put in to this book leaving it table-top worthy. I'm going to have a long, slow, meandering peruse with this.

Problem Solved
EDIT: Editing my review after discussing with the author and receiving clarification on the confusion. The cease and desist and legal team action halted the sale of individual photographs of the Disney Parks. He IS NOT being sued by Disney. The Disney photos ARE in fact included in a book just not this book. It was the error of news articles stating that would be included in this book. If you, like I, are looking for those specific photographs he said they are in the book "Abandoned: Hauntingly Beautiful Deserted Theme Parks" also available on Amazon. Like I mentioned before, this book - it's photographs and message are great just not what I was looking for.Thank you Seph for the clarification and communication with your buyers - excellent customer service!Original Review: "RETURNED!"Bought this specifically because of multiple articles stating it would include photos of the abandoned Disney parks. Disappointed upon arrival to find out the photos aren't included - after some research I found out he's being sued so the photos were pulled. This was only disclosed on the personal website and should be disclosed prior to selling. Three stars because of this issue the photos and book itself are okay but the lack of disclosure and information was annoying. Overall if that was something you're hoping to have in there DO NOT waste your time and money.

I have followed Seph Lawless on FB, Instagram, and YouTube and his images and movies are always captivating. This book is so well done and captures a look at places I would love to visit but either can't because they have been demolished, or because I'm not as stealthy as Seph! :-) I get lost looking through this book and become so consumed by the photos that it is a nice way to take a break and get away from stress. When looking at the pictures I always imagine what memories these places hold and wonder if the shoppers, residents and visitors ever thought the structures would end up as a skeleton of their former selves.I also find that Seph is very approachable through his social media accounts and is so kind to answer questions and acknowledge compliments. A very nice guy. Kudos to Seph and looking forward to all his work to come in the future.

Beautiful Imagery of a Decaying America
I've been following Seph's work for many years- when I first saw his haunting photos of Six Flags in New Orleans and I've had the Urbex bug ever since. His photos of the decay we let happen around our country are as beautiful as they are tragic. There were some reviews complaining about the "liberal" pov in the book, however, I feel that no matter what political affiliation you have we should all care about how we are letting so many parts of America turn to rubble, it's detrimental in so many ways. (Although without it happening there would not be a beautiful book like this sitting on my coffee table.) Now I just need another book to add to my collection!

Powerful chronicle of modern America
"How is it that what is valuable can become worthless overnight? How is it that the richest country in the world is so powerless in the face of urban decay?"This photo book combines haunting, even disturbing shots with poignant anecdotes and passionate commentaries. Most of the photos were snapped in the Rust Belt, but as Lawless himself pointed out throughout the book, these scenes have played out, and continue to play out, all across the country. These images are vivid reminders that we Americans are never too far from the realities of deprivation and decay, of devastation and distress.

Excellent book.... great photography!!! A haunting look at our societies waste.
Awesome book! I've been a follower for several years now and love all his photos! Excellent book and great photography. Highly recommend this if you are into photography and/or abandoned places. I know several of these places personally and have photographed some too but, it is always great to see how other photographers see places with their own eye. Really like the large size of the book and photos as well. A great look at the unfortunate "throw it away" society that we are now living in.

Haunting Photos from "Yesterday"
I liked the photographs and story, as I find the theme interesting. However, there were places in Northeast Pennsylvania, that were supposed to becovered in the book, according to an interview the author gave, that weren't in the book; or if they were, they weren't identified as such.It was disappointing from that respect, but overall, I liked the book.

THANK YOU.
I've waited for this book for so long! "Autopsy of America" is captivating, and Seph's commentary is intriguing. Some reviewers have said they wished there were more descriptions of the photographs/places; I can't say that, because I've followed Seph for a long time and I am aware of the places he's photographed and his commentary on these places. As someone who wishes she was an urban explorer, I've lived vicariously through his photographs over the years and his descriptions on his social media and website, so I'm familiar. I'm glad these pictures are now in hard copu format and in my home to show others. So, what I'd say to those reviewers is: "Find him. Follow him. Go on this journey with him You won't regret it."

Mesmerizing
I discovered Seph Lawless while watching the episode 'Ghost Mall' of Abandoned TV series hosted by Rick McCrank in 2016. Since then, I am fascinated by his photography. I just received my copy of this book and it is mesmerizing, splendid. Just wow! It is the kind of book you want to leave on your coffee table for your guests to read and be amazed by the author's artwork. Love it.
