It's like playing Diablo
If you ever played Diablo I or II, playing Fate would be like a walk down Memory Lane. Why? The interface is similar, the potion system is similar, even the quests are similar. The main difference is probably the fact that you have a pet dog or cat that follows you everywhere. Your pet is basically useless and you can't customize your pet either but it's there and it does act as a tank of sorts since it never dies. It's basically a hack n' slash type of game. There's not much of a storyline and there's definitely no character development so don't expect that when playing this game. Unlike Diablo though, there's no "class" that you choose. It's just one character that you can customize to be a warrior, a mage, or a rogue--or some other combination. Nothing is set up for you. You have the potential to make a hybrid character or a jack-of-all-trades type of character. You can learn spells, you can use certain weapons if you got the right stats, and a type of skills tree. If you liked Diablo, you're probably going to like Fate minus all the gore. I definitely enjoyed playing it.

Enjoyable RPG
I am an adult female and am enjoying playing this RPG .... I haven't had much experience with this type of game before, but I do enjoy playing SIM games, so I decided to give this a try. In some ways, I like it better than some sim games which have either few or no goals. This game gives you goals or tasks to complete for the "villagers" as well as feats of bravery that you must perform before moving on to other levels. As you progress through the levels, you earn gold, and pick up valuable tools to use along your way. You even have a pet to join and protect you on your quest (there are ways to morph you pet into a stronger character as you go along). If you fail your mission and are killed ...gasp...the grim reaper allows to to make several choices to continue. Everything in this game has to do with the choices you make along the way...kind of like life itself! Choose wisely!

way too similar to the original fate
I love Fate. But then again, this game feels like I played the original Fate more or less 3 times in order to finish the game. Which is basically what happens. You have to conquer 3 dungeons in order to finish the final boss, where then you have the option to retire. Other than a few minor additions - like hero artifacts, slightly different themes for two of the dungeons, a unique boss at the end, and a better balanced system than the original fate (the original fate, favored fighters I think more than other types of "classes" - such as mage or archer), it basically was the same go down in the dungeon, escort this guy, kill this guy, or find these things type of errands that were exactly in the first version of Fate. Whether or not you consider this a good thing or not depends on how much you like fate and don't mind playing it over and over again.

Plays great on Vistas 64-bit
Like many people, I've had a lot of trouble finding games that play on Vistas; even those that play on Vistas 32-bit systems often will not play on the newer, 64-bit. (Diablo, for example.) I have a decent HP Pavilion laptop, bought about 6 months ago; it's not a superstar system by any means, but it has plenty of RAM and an ATI graphics card of I think about 4530. FATE plays great on this system. The only other game I have found that does so is LEGEND, which is another pretty good rehash of Diablo (as is FATE). This game loaded faster than any other I have ever played, on any system--took about 2 minutes and was ready to go. I couldn't believe it.The game is pretty well discussed here. I enjoy it a lot, it's very addictive and fun. Any comments on other games that have been successfully installed in Vistas 64 would be appreciated. (TITAN QUEST, maybe?)

Good game...CRAPPY install issues
This game is actually a lot of fun...if you can get it to run. I bought it a couple years ago and it used to work just fine on my Windows XP system. I just tried to reinstall it on my Windows 8.1 laptop and it will not run correctly. It either tells me "The game is not installed properly. Please reinstall" just after installation or it tells me that my free trial is over and I now have to pay. I think it may have something to do with the game's publisher WildTangent. They seem to have switched to digital downloads but if that's the case, I have no idea why they keep selling the actual CD version (my version). I haven't contacted WildTangent yet but when I do they are going to hear it from me. Hopefully they will resolve the issue. This is why I gave it only two stars. Otherwise the game is a simple dungeon adventure game and a lot of fun.UPDATE: Okay, so I think the problem with installation has to do with antivirus software, specifically Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials. Every time I wouuld try to install, these programs would "scrub" the "infection" and the game would not run correctly. What I tried was turning off real-time protection with Windows Defender on Windows 8.1 while installing, then added every single file/process I could think of to the "exceptions" list. So far, the game runs great for me. This may not work for everybody or every antivirus program but it seemed to work fine for me.

addictive fun
The game is great for the people who just want to have some fun. It is a fun way of passing a few hours and is good for the rainy day blah. It is a little repetative (but in a fun way), so those avid game players may not like it as much. My 6 year old likes both the old version and this one. She likes to play in the town so this one is good for her because there are 3 towns to this one. Kinda like 3 games in one.

A cheap game the kids like to play
I played it years ago and thought it was ok, Your character walks around completing missions and being given rewards for them, using spells and weapons to defeat your foes. We bought this as a present for our 14 year old and he and his siblings still give it a fair amount of play time. It was cheap and for the money spent they have gotten a lot of use out of it.
