Isn't this too small to be historically accurate?

It's pretty accurate as far as toys go, and it's a good size dinosaur too compared to most toys you'll find. Schleich is a great company!

The dinosaur is not hollow. It is solid and quit heavy. Great quality with a mouth that you can open and close. My son loves this dino. One of his favorites, which is saying alot for this one since he has around 300 in his collection. Hope this helps!! Tam

Is this too heavy to be used as a cake topper?

I would say that you would be okay if you placed the dinosaur on the cake right before serving. Also, if you are using a fondant frosting, it'll be okay. Fondant is seems stronger than regular frosting. Hope this helps!
