A Great New Approach
A Great New Approach! This book takes a very different approach from the other APAH prep books. It does not containshort lists of disconnected points. Instead, the author provides 1 or 2 page narrative discussions foreach work of art. These narratives are filled with memorable facts. For example, modernresearch strongly indicates that the Rapa Nuians most likely did "walk" the huge moai to their platforms!Interesting facts like this help you remember the form, function, content, and context of eachwork. Each discussion ends with a Making Connections feature linking the work to anotherrequired work. For example the author compares the form of the Nukuoro female deity with the formof the Athenian Peplos Kore. The sample practice questions provide a very realistic test. And finally, the glossarygoes one step beyond giving definitions by also providing examples from the required list of images. So a highly recommendedgreat new approach.

Just in time to save the day
AP Art History arrived just in time to save the day for the APAH exam! I have used a previous version back when I took the test and liked it so much that I got one for my boss's son this year. The book features very informative discussions on each work in the final five required units. Definitely a lot better than the random lists in other prep books. The large pictures, great glossary of terms, and 80 practice multiple-choice questions were especially helpful. I will update later when my boss lets me know how his son did on the exam...as I am sure he will.UPDATE: according to my boss, the practice essay questions were just like the ones on the exam. This author has a keen sense of what exam writers think is important in Art History

The book is NOT designed like a glossary
This book is an invaluable resource to students. This book exceeds its competitors in every way. The book is NOT designed like a glossary, with thumb-nail images and bulleted facts. It is thoughtfully organized, with ¼ page images, valuable information about the essential works, and “connections” linking works to one another. The revised exam is challenging, but the wealth of facts and examples this guide offers will help students succeed with the multiple choice questions, and the depth of context information will assist with the free response components of the exam. No AP Art History student should be without this powerful tool.

The ultimate AP Art History Book -- A must!
As a high school student, I can truly attest to this textbook's effectiveness! With its engaging headings, helpful images, "Making Connections" sections, and of course, practice questions, this is the ultimate guide for a student taking AP Art History. But more than that, every passage is so beautifully written that a student does not feel as if she is studying, but rather as if she is reading for herself, for pure knowledge -- Krieger makes the text engaging, as it is intentionally geared towards a high school audience. This book is a fantastic journey, and I recommend it 100%!!

Great book, totally getting a 5 on the AP exam!
Awesome test prep book, with photos big enough to actually see! Sidebars that point out connections between artworks will definitely help with prepping for essay questions. And our teacher is rushing through a lot of this content as we get close to the exam, so this book is super helpful!

I love this book! Don't waste your time searching for the other volumes!
I have a shelf full of books on art and art history, and this is one of my very favorite. I will definitely buy the other volumes as they are published. Volumes 1 and 2 are not out yet. Kind of an odd publishing decision, but oh well. There's something magical about a book by someone who loves their subject and also has deep mastery of the content. I would give this book 10 stars if I could.

These connections are great!
This guide has been such a help for me and some of my APAH students. Unfortunately, many programs teach to Western art as the "norm," so being able to provide another resource that makes direct correlations between non-Western works and some of the works my students recognize very well has been one of the big advantages of having this guide on hand.I cannot wait to see what Volumes 1 and 2 will hold, as this one has been brilliant at home and in the classroom.
