Best example of a perfect "American Dream" or so as they called it. But here that American Dream is never fulfilled and that's what causes all the bickering and arguments between the couple George and Martha. Satisfying their lives with make believe games and never reaching that goal of theirs because the unfulfilled dreams created a vacuum in their hearts which ripped them apart.

I was kinda lost in the play, what is going on? ", then suddenly after careful reading I realized. The book is small by the way, It's called mass market paperback or something. I prefer normal paperback though.

One of the greatest plays in the American theatre which was also made into an outstanding movie..The punchline. often missed by readers is that the protagonists are infertile...

A peça que virou o filme estrelado por Elizabeth Taylor, numa das performances mais impressionantes que já vi e que lhe rendeu o Oscar de melhor atriz em 1966. O filme é uma adaptação bem fiel à peça; há poucas alterações no texto.Sou do time de leitores que não é exigente com o desfecho e não se magoa muito se o final do livro for um pouco decepcionante, desde que a introdução e o desenvolvimento sejam convincentes. No entanto, quando o autor consegue criar uma conclusão que não apenas resolve as perguntas do enredo e os arcos dos personagens, como também muda o significado de toda a trama e, eu diria, muda até o gênero da história em poucas frases, é absolutamente sublime. No primeiro ato, pensei que se tratasse de uma comédia; no segundo, senti que pendia mais para o suspense; no terceiro, quando entendi que era, na verdade, um drama, fiquei muito chocada.Ler a peça é útil para quem escreve ficção (os diálogos merecem ser estudados, e eu recomendo ler em inglês mesmo, porque eles têm um ritmo ótimo). Assistir ao filme, com a interpretação magnífica de Taylor, é útil para qualquer pessoa.
