I bought others a while ago and the corroded. Do these corrode?

I bought them and they were too short for my purpose and have not send them back yet not away of corrosion issue

Is the locking mechanism spring loaded or do you have to lock it in position by pressing down?

This strap is as simple a strap can be, yes it is a spring locking mechanism but all you have is to do wrap it around any item you need secured then place pointed end into the square end and pull tight then let go. As you you need a release to item you chose to secure all you have to do is press a short of like button in the center of the square and all comes lose. Great straps to have as they aren't too long or too wide but surely work, i use them in my moving van to tie down tool cases and love them.

Are the 12 ft straps -12ft each? or 3 ft each for 4?

Can you leave them outdoors

I don’t know if the buckles are weather proof for long term exposure
