It is very thick and reinforced. It is also much heavier and a standard plastic pool spool will not hold it all. I cut ours back to 70 ft (all we need to reach our pond). It barely fit on a power-cord spool and is quite a bit heftier than the old one. Used it twice already this summer and I am quite happy with it. Review: Reordering after 6 years - Costs more and worth every penny. This is a very heavy duty hose. I live in Arizona and the sun and cactus spines are tough on my pool backwash hose. I went for the cheapest one last time and it did not last at all. I have not had this very long, but I'm very confident it will last for a good number of years. Update Nov. 2019: I just happened across this old order and thought I would update this review. I've had the hose for 4 years now. I used to roll it up and at least semi-protect when not actively using it for backwashing, but I've gotten lazy and it has been in the Arizona sun for the last couple of years. It is still doing fine and I still completely recommend it. Update October 2021: I just ordered a new hose. The 6 year old stuff is starting to leak. Like I say above, I got lazy a number of years ago and it has been abused in the Arizona sun. Great hose. I just hope the new one is same as the old. I'll update if it is not. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kinks Easily Without Sufficient Pump Pressure *by R***N on May 17, 2021* I purchased this to use as a discharge hose for an RV macerator pump ( SewerFlo Quick Release RV Macerator Pump - 12V, 12GPM RV Dump Station Mount ). Unfortunately, the discharge hose kinks very easily if it's not in a near perfect straight line and isn't under sufficient pressure to force the kinks out. Picture a fire hose. I could barely get any macerator pump flow through the hose beyond about 50 feet. Hose quality is fine. It seems plenty sturdy enough to get the job done. Just make sure you'll either be keeping the hose in a straight line if you have low pump pressure, or ensure your pump has sufficient pressure to force the kinks out if you don't have the discharge hose in a completely straight line.
