does it work with the iPod mini?

It didn’t work with my iPad 2 so I sent it back.

Do I need another something to put this into an outlet?

you would need an outlet that is setup for USB chargers. A normal USB wall charger should work. They usually all put off the same low voltage. You could also charge it from a computer USB port as well for most of the devices. A common USB charger would work with this cable.

Will this cord be compatible or able to transfer music or voice recordings from my 4s iphone to the imac desktop?

Just a charging cord as far as I know.

With is connector will it play a playlist or do you have to manually chose the song each time a song ends?

This is just a cable. It only connects the iPhone to the computer or power source. You program the playlist on the device itself and not on the cable.
