My go-to knife!
I recently added the Shun Classic 7 inch Santoku Knife to my collection of kitchen knives, and it has quickly become my favorite. Handcrafted in Japan, this knife is the epitome of quality and craftsmanship. What sets the Shun Classic apart is its versatility. The 7 inch blade is perfect for chopping, slicing, and dicing all kinds of ingredients, from vegetables to meats. And because it's made with high-quality VG-MAX steel, it's incredibly durable and holds a sharp edge for longer than any other knife in my collection. One of the things I appreciate most about the Shun Classic is how comfortable it is to use. The D-shaped handle fits perfectly in my hand, providing a secure and comfortable grip. And the beautiful Damascus pattern on the blade adds an extra touch of elegance to my kitchen.I can't recommend the Shun Classic 7 inch Santoku Knife enough. It's a true masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship and a joy to use in the kitchen. Whether you're a beginner cook or a seasoned professional, this knife is sure to exceed your expectations. It's now my go-to knife for all my cooking needs, and I'm confident it will become yours too. If you're looking for a high-quality, versatile, and beautiful knife that will last a lifetime, the Shun Classic is definitely worth the investment.

Priceless Quality
My first impression of this knife was how beautiful it is. I’ve never owned such a knife. I’m not a chef. So really I couldn’t justify paying the price. Again and again though I kept looking at it here on Amazon. Then also I love to cook but I hate to chop. My fingers played the guitar when I was young so knives and I don’t get along. This knife brings out my concentration. It so sharp it demands I focus more on what I am doing rather than doing what I don’t enjoy. Chopping has changed for me!! After just a few times using this knife? I look forward to what once was sheer tedium. Whoever you are who made this Shun knife I am grateful for this piece of Art. I know how time, care, design, thought, trial and error led to this perfection that covers fully my practical needs as well.Thank you Shun knives. I bought several knives here on Amazon and all the while I was looking for your company for just what I could not afford not to try. The errors cost me dollar for dollar by that temptation to pay less and hope what you buy is more. Just ain’t so. In this case I got a lot more than I paid for by buying your knife. Thank you Amazon. Thank you Shun.

Best Knives You’ll Ever Own
I received a Christmas gift of Shun 8” Chefs Knife, 6” Serrated Utility knife and 4” pairing knife. I love Santoku so bought this to add to my collection. These are lightweight, super sharp & beautiful. By far the best knives I’ve ever owned. Between the Chefs knife & Santoku..both amazing and not sure which one I like better. So far, I seem to use the Chefs knife a bit more. I’ve also added a 6” Tojiro Damascus utility to my collection but prefer the Shun pakawood handles much better. Anyway…Shun knives are a 5 Star all the way.

Sharpest knife I've ever owned. Amazing to use.
This is the best knife I've ever owned. I decided to treat myself to one of the Japanese specialty knives and this one by Shun was highly praised in many sources so sprung for it. It is beautiful layered Damascus steel (you can see the layers in the traditional pattern of the blade) and its sharpness is something I've never before experienced. Slices though vegetables and meats like I imagine a straight razor would. Shun sells protectors for their knives which are essential for proper storage and maintenance. I highly recommend this and encourage you to do you own research for it.

This knife is a work of art
This Shun Classic Santoku Knife is a beautiful knife and it's just as functional as it is impressive looking. I've had mine for about 5 months now and I've only needed to sharpen it once. That's saying a lot since I use it several times a day. It's "scary sharp" compared to any other knife I've used in the past. I'm very careful using it. The size and shape makes it a great all-around knife for just about everything and I use it in place of my old chef's knife of another brand. About the only thing I don't use it for are paring knife duties, like peeling potatoes or cutting small things. I also bought the Shun Classic 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife for those jobs. I did a video review for that knife where you can see the lovely presentation box that the knife comes in, which is the same type of box as this one arrived in. You can also see the Damascus detailing which is the same as this knife.I couldn't believe how easily this knife cuts through things like winter squash or watermelon, things that were sometimes a chore with my old knives. This one is just a pleasure to use. If you eat a lot of vegetables or do things like stir fry dishes you quickly begin to appreciate a knife like this. I've gotten very spoiled. This knife was well worth the money.

My go-to knife.
If i could only have one knife in the kitchen, it would be this knife. Actually, if I could only have one knife at all, it would be this knife. The size, weight, feel, heft, blade length and depth are all just absolutely dead solid perfection. I use it for everything except big carving and chopping jobs. I have given these knives to everybody in my family and they all say the same. I can't tell you how many different kinds of meals I've made using just this one knife.I hate to gush like this, but it's just really, really good. I've had mine about 7 years. It's got a couple of tiny nicks in the blade and my idiot roommate broke the very end of the tip off, but I wouldn't think about replacing it. Holds an edge well, despite getting daily use. Still looks fantastic. When the Chinese and Russians finally take down the grid and knock out our internet, I will just take my trusty Shun santoku and creep into the wild. And I will survive.
