Robin's Nest: The Complete Series [DVD]

delivery excellent, condition fine
We have been buying quite a lot of dvd box sets due to lockdown, and this was another spin off from "Man About the House".It really is not funny, rather puerile and extremely dated. Richard O Sullivan is as usual, and Tessa wyatt competent, but Tony Brittan is an old ham, and the idea of any restaurant employing a one armed dishwasher is so ludicrous to believe, that is just becomes silly, not funny.

Robin`s Nest complete collection
This is a very funny comedy series that was a spin off from another series called Man about the House. That series featured the character Robin Tripp. The series had been very successful and when it ended two new spin off series were created. One was George and Mildred and the other was Robins Nest. Fresh from the successful Man about the house comedy series, Robin Tripp has now left his two female flatmates and teamed up with his live in lover Vicky Nicholls. Vicky is an air hostess. The pair live in their own flat in Fulham London above a bistro called Robins Nest. Also in this show there is the character of Albert Riddle who is a one arm washer up and helper that works for the bistro. He is a funny character who is an Irish ex con with plenty of blarney.Everything seems to be going well, but then there is also the character of father to Vicky, James Nicholls who is a disapproving figure. He is also a rather over enthusiastic "sleeping partner" in the business at the Bistro.Meanwhile mother of Vicky, Marion, is more sympathetic to her daughter and the life she has with long haired cook Robin.Tensions ease when Robin and Vicky get married and have twins.Sir Richard O`Sullivan also wrote the synthesizer theme music. This DVD set contains the complete series and the packaging is nicely presented. But there are no subtitles for other languages or the hard of hearing. There are some very good episodes throughout the series and generally it is a gentle comedy with a good slice of farce.

Still funny 30+ years on
Remembered enjoying this when it first screened on tv and wondered if it would stack up all these years later. It does! First class comedy with a great cast. Changes of actor in a role are always a bit disconcerting but Vicky's mother is played by two very good performers and the switch doesn't jar too much because she only features in a handful of episodes.Definitely worth a look if you can't remember what well-written comedy looks like without the obscene language or crass jokes so common nowadays.

Robin's nest complete series dvdHave waited a long time for those fabulous old British sitcoms to be released!Well worth the wait, however get annoyed when series are release one by one then eventually the box sets are released and much cheaper. E.g. I have series 1 and 2 of Robin's Nest but could not get the rest.Eventually managed to get the full set from Amazon (thank you Amazon) and look forwards to other re-released 'oldies'.Any chance series 2 of 'Next Of Kin" will be released?

great
worth every penny. having only been really young when first aired, i didn't remember much. Its funny to watch the progress of Robin and Vicky building up the Bistro, then through marriage and later parenthood.. Stars Richard Osullivan as Robin, Tessa Wyatt as Vicky and Tony Britton as Vicky's father Mr Nicholls. And not forgetting David Kelly as one armed dish washer Albert Riddle who steals the show for me. contains all 6 series and the 2 christmas specials
