This Hindi to English dictionary from Oxford University Press is very useful for those who are learning Hindi, as the main words in Hindi, which you are searching for their meanings, have a transcription, meaning a written pronunciation. It is in paperback: the cover is supple with a glossy waterproof finishing. Its size is 21.5 cm by 14 cm and its thickness is 4.3 cm; thus a good medium size, easy to carry. It has 1083 pages. It can be open easily: you can have your dictionary fully open on your study table. Finally, the main Hindi words are in bold characters and bigger size than their translation in English allowing you to be able to read these Hindi words easily. Overall, I am very happy of this excellent Hindi to English dictionary.

I purchased this book along with 'Beginner's Hindi Script' and 'Say it in Hindi'. It is very clear. Many other books and dictionaries I have looked at use cheap, rough paper and the type does not print well on the paper. The syllable characters in this dictionary are crisp and clear; large enough to see; the English transliteration is right next to the Devanagari script; examples of many kinds are included with many of the words so you can see all of the variants and idioms. I sometimes have a problem where I can't find a word I want to know the meaning of because it is perhaps written in a tense that I need to know the root of first. However, this is due to the fact that I am a beginning student of the language, I'm sure. Looking up the various words in this dictionary has certainly helped me learn the syllabary more quickly. This is the best Hindi dictionary I have found so far.

インドで書を買うと紙質が粗い上に印刷も荒く、肝心の部分がかすれていたりするけれど、さすがのOXFORD！ 違和感ある程、くっきり鮮明。 情報量が多い反面、厚みが5cm以上あり、持ち歩きには向きません。 デーヴナーグリー文字で引くと、ローマ字表記があり、その後に名詞、動詞などの説明、そして英語での意味。 インドで購入する現地版との違いは、OXFORDの英和とかを使った方なら、引きやすいということでしょうか。 普通に旅をする程度の為には、情報量が多すぎ？とも思いますが、長くヒンディーとつきあおうと思ったら１冊あってもいいかな？と思います。
