Third-Rate Plots
This is a weak CSI Season 9. Too much soap opera and too letter investigation. No twists or turns. Predictable.

CSI NY, END OF THE LINE?
I am a big fan of this series, and just finished the final season, I only gave it four stars because it was shorter than the otherseasons, but it finished on a high note. MacTaylor got his chickeepoo, and everyone else seems to have settled down with agirl friend, which I like to see: Beckett & Castle, Booth & Bones and Jane & Lisbon (finally!). Some of these episodes really grabyour heart(or your stomach if you don't like gore) and sometimes identify with their professional or personal problems. Gary Sineseis just superb as Mac Taylor and the others are very well fitted into the cast though I wish "Stella" had remained in the show ratherthan that other dame that replaced her. I hope someone brings this series back; as a resident of NYC and have worked for yearsin Manhattan and very familiar with the borough as well as working for the TA on Staten Island (where I live), I like to see the NYPDin action. I also like CHICAGO PD & CHICAGO FIRE: I lived in Chicago as a kid. If You like good police drama and like thetechnical side of solving crimes, then the CSI series is for you. I got these and other DVDs from Amazon.

The final season is pretty good. By the ninth season the whole production ...
The final season is pretty good. By the ninth season the whole production crew and cast knew just what they were doing and what worked. Every show was good. We like this series because the mysteries are always interesting, and we like the characters. The final two shows in season nine - the last two in the entire series - are, frankly, rather smaltzy, feel-good romance stories about the cast, tying up their personal storylines in a "and they lived happily ever after" way, but we liked them. And why not? Not ever series needs to end like The Shield or Breaking Bad.

Well...that leaves me with "Smash", probably for half a season.
"CSI:NY" is a phenomenally solid piece of entertainment. In all of the years that it has been on television I can think of only one episode which I considered second-rate. Everything else has been superb. Even a major cast change didn't harm the show, but somehow added to it. And Gary Sinise is probably the best actor working on television today. The supporting cast are all going to be greatly missed and I can only hope that they all are quickly signed to other solid shows, despite the paucity of those. So now I've lost "Pushing Daisies", the best filmed show ever - the colours were breathtaking! And "Life" lasted only two seasons, though it made Americans at least familiar with a top-notch British actor. "Homeland" tends to waste him too much of the time. But he is still brilliant in it. And then there is "Smash" which made it to a second season by a skinny cat's whisker. It is dubious that it will last a full third season, not because of any major flaw in itself, but because it demands a brain to watch and put the pieces in play. Sadly, audiences seem to prefer mindless fodder of chubby gas-passing children whose very presence in a beauty pageant is a rather sick joke to play on her family, though they don't deserve any better. Or there are the 'celebrity' shows that if one watches it is to see what excesses and stupidities the rich and publicity-greedy families can humiliate themselves with in order to be watched by even more lost souls. Perhaps this season we'll have a one hour marriage followed by an annulment, and then, surprise, she'll have twins of which only one is human... Being famous for being famous is such a bore. What ever happened to talent? So gather the diamonds while you may. "CSI:NY" is a show that you will be very glad that you invested in. You can start here, but I would suggest that you go back to Season One if you have not already discovered the pleasures of a solidly written show, cast perfectly, and acted with a perfect mix of drama and humour.

Fantastic way to go.
You can see that the entire cast and crew put everything they had into this series. If you're buying the 9th and final series, you've seen the other 8 and know what the show's all about (if not - tough) and know how good it is, and this series easily raised the already high standard of the show. All I really have to say is that the series ended brilliantly! They did what I hoped they would, there are no unfinished storylines, everyone gets closure and as much as I didn't want it to end I'm impressed with how they did it.My only regret is that there was only 3 series with Jo,
